Is he a goner?
I made this silly snail with a cauldron on his back a while ago but he cracked all over… I made a base with tinfoil and wire, and then paper clay. I dried him slowly in a plastic bag with a strip of wet paper with no luck.. since then I have tried filling the cracks with slip (very low water concentration), wetting the crack and then scoring with slip and adding more clay, and drying at different intervals… each time he cracks :( this is probably the least amount of cracking but I feel like it’s getting so structurally unsound that sanding it back down to its original shape will be impossible.
Are there any techniques you would suggest? Would using super glue be my best bet? I tried painting him once over the cracks but it did not help. I peeled the acrylic off a while back to try filling the cracks in.
I love the piece and don’t want to give up on it… but I’m losing the fight. 😭 helppp
