My TOMS and my very first Kyosho

Just finished up my first Kyosho after “just” building a Tamiya Egress. What a joy of a build, was worried as I heard it wasn’t as well instructed as Tamiya but the multiple bags that you finish before moving on to the next one made it really simple.

Took far longer than my Egress mainly sure to how little space you have and trying to get the ESC to fit and a battery that would work. My standard sized shorty which is only 25mm high could fit with almost 0 body clearance, problem came when you wanted to add cables.

I also didn’t fancy doing box art on this one, to my eye the decals are a bit much so went with an Optima inspired colour way and come custom made decals. First time not using Tamiya PS paint, airbrushed it and am about 90% happy with the results, nothing the decals can’t hide anyway.

As for driving it, I’ve only run about half a battery though it on tarmac on non Kyosho tires and I’m super impressed with the handling exp as it doesnt come with anti roll as standard. I’m tempted no to add them after my first run, really controllable rear end. Doesn’t feel as fast as the Egress in my hands, but does feel far more fun controllable to drive.

Are you also stocking up on the last of them?

So I thought they were going to be making the old super stock motors and the new ones, but the word I’ve been hearing is that’s not the case and the new ones are like 14% slower (VZ vs BZ) and I’ve seen some posts about them not being as reliable, which could be just a one off, I’ve had a dud RZ before.

Personally bar the sticker I don’t think the motors look as good, and it’s a real shame the performance isn’t on par. I really like the Super Stock motors, super value for the performance they give.

Manual doesn’t say to do it, but also doesn’t say not to. It’s fully covered so I’m thinking it would be a good idea to do it, is there a reason not to?
