Did you know that the Desert Sorceresses are actually captives/captured?
As the title says, did you know that there have been a few times that the Desert Sorceresses have been implied to be captured?
Based off of internal names inside the game files, the Desert Sorceresses have an internal name of "Captured Magician" or " 捕らわれた魔導士(生者)", which when translated roughly means "Captured Sorcerer (Living/Alive)".
While the "(Living/Alive)" at the end doesn't sound much knowing the Desert Sorceresses pretty much look very human, it also implies that there was supposed to be an undead/hollowed version of them; especially when the very few times it appears it's tagged for enemies who have hollowed versions (i.e Royal Soldiers with Hollow Soldiers, Drangleic Infantry with Hollowed Infantry).
Example : Hollow Soldier & Royal Soldiers (in the giant memories)
Aside from the internal names, the descriptions from the Collector's Edition guide (page 132) & Dark Souls Trilogy Compendium (page 130) releases have referred to the Desert Sorceresses as 'captive Sorceresses'.

Reading their description on the Collector's Edition Guide, the sorceresses may have been captured by Mytha as a scheme to lure more victims into her web, hence their presence in the Harvest Valley and Earthen Peak.
Collector's Edition Guide description for the Desert Sorceress.
Despite them being praised and prostrated to by the many other rotting hollows, it seems like they're not much different compared to the others in the valley below; nothing but captives of Mytha.
