My upstairs neighbor’s 2am moving schedule has been ruining my sleep

I don’t know what lease clause says “rearrange furniture only after midnight” but my upstairs neighbor has clearly read it. It’s not even a party, which somehow makes it more annoying because there’s nothing obvious to point at. No yelling, no TV blasting, no drunk people in the hallway. Just footsteps, chair dragging, one heavy thud, silence for exactly long enough that my body relaxes, then another long scrape across the ceiling like someone is slowly moving a dresser with their knees. I rent, so I’m trying very hard not to become That Tenant who sends dramatic emails to management over “normal living sounds,” but also I have a job and a nervous system and I’m starting to hate bedtime. Foam earplugs block some of it but my ears feel sore by 4am, and if I push them in deep enough to work, I wake up feeling like I slept in a submarine. Brown noise helps with traffic and hallway doors but not the impact sounds from above. I’ve been comparing Soundcore and Ozlo because I need something actually made for side sleeping, not giant ANC headphones that make me feel like I’m directing aircraft from my pillow. What I’m trying to figure out is whether sleep earbuds can take the sharp edge off apartment noise, especially footsteps and furniture dragging, or if low-frequency thuds just go straight through your skull no matter what.

Has anyone here used either in a rental with upstairs neighbors? Not asking for perfect silence. I just want to stop waking up like someone dropped a bowling ball directly into my REM cycle.

Jordan 4 "Midnight Navy/Gum" Rep Pickup

Had these in hand for a bit and wanted to share some thoughts.

Overall they look really solid in person. The color blocking looks clean and the materials feel nice. Suede has some movement and the leather panels feel decent. Shape looks good to me and nothing stands out as off when worn. Swoosh placement looks consistent and stitching is clean overall. Midsole color looks right and not too yellow.

They fit TTS for me and are comfortable for everyday wear. No major complaints so far.

Just sharing my experience in case it helps anyone.

This is one of those things i probably would’ve rolled my eyes at six months ago. “oh, your robot just uses water now?” sure, sounds fake, right? but then i was at her place the other day, baby on the floor, toddler chaos everywhere, and somehow her whole downstairs didn’t feel like a sticky mess by the end of the day not in a fake lemon-scented way, just genuinely cleaner. she told me she barely touches any traditional floor cleaner anymore because her robot mop uses this treated water that supposedly helps clean and sanitize. of course now i’m curious and every time i start Googling i end up in circles trying to figure out how does electrolyzed water mopping work? some explanations sound super scientific, others just sound like marketing fluff. honestly, i can’t tell which is real and which is noise. i like the idea because i’m tired of constantly wondering what’s left on the floor after i clean it, especially with a baby who treats the floor like a second dining table. but i also don’t want to fall for some fancy feature that doesn’t actually help.

has anyone here actually used this long-term and noticed real cleaner floors or less gunk sitting around? or is this one of those features people love because it sounds better than it actually works?

Robot vacuums are a godsend for busy families, but can’t replace a full clean

I recently joined the robot vacuum club after hearing so many great things from friends and family. As a working parent with two kids and a dog, I thought this would be a life-changer—something that could take over the daily cleaning so I could focus on other things. And let me tell you, the convenience is unreal. My robot vacuum is on a schedule, and it does an excellent job at keeping things looking tidy during the week. It picks up all the crumbs, dirt, and the pet hair that my dog leaves behind without me needing to lift a finger. 🙌

But here’s the thing: it doesn’t replace a deep clean. It’s great for surface-level messes, but when it comes to things like embedded pet hair in the carpet or deep dust on the baseboards, it just doesn’t have the same power as a traditional vacuum. And, as much as I love having it clean while I'm working, I’ve noticed that it misses a lot of the hard-to-reach spots, like corners and under the couch. I thought that I could rely on the robot vacuum alone, but I still find myself needing to drag out the old vacuum on weekends for a thorough clean.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I still love the convenience of the robot vacuum, but I don’t think it can replace that old-fashioned deep cleaning. Does anyone have tips for balancing robot vacuum use with a more thorough clean? Or am I just stuck with the need to do both?

I never thought a robot vacuum could be such a huge letdown, but here I am. 😩 I have two large dogs, a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever. If you have either breed, you already know: shedding is a lifestyle, not just an occasional inconvenience. So, I figured a robot vacuum would be the perfect solution to help me keep up with the constant shedding. I thought it would be a game-changer.

But no, the robot vacuum has been an absolute disappointment in my home. It picks up some of the fur, sure, but it misses a lot – especially the bigger clumps of hair my dogs leave behind. It also constantly gets stuck on furniture, under chairs, or on the edges of rugs. And for some reason, it always gets confused if it’s in a room with a bunch of different surfaces (carpet, hardwood, etc.). I mean, it’s supposed to be “smart,” right?

I even went for one of the top-rated models for pet homes, but honestly, it’s still no match for my dogs’ shedding. The worst part is that I’m now vacuuming twice a day. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting – maybe I had too high of hopes for it.

So, has anyone else with heavy shedding pets found a robot vacuum that actually works? I need something that can pick up all the hair, get under furniture without getting stuck, and doesn’t make a noise loud enough to send my dogs into a panic. I’m willing to give another brand a shot, but I need some real-world advice before I waste more money on another disappointment. Can anyone recommend something that actually lives up to the promise?

Tiny cleaning win, but it honestly changed the whole vibe of my place.

I used to wait until the floors looked bad, then do the full manual routine. Vacuum, mop, move chairs, get tired, promise myself I’ll keep up with it, repeat. It wasn’t that the cleaning was impossible, it was that waiting made every clean feel bigger than it had to be.

I started running the robot vacuum once every morning and it helped a lot. Then I added one small evening run just for the kitchen and entryway because that’s where the crumbs and outside grit show up. Not a whole production. Just a small reset.

Now the floor never really gets to the “ugh, I need to deal with this” stage. It’s more like maintenance instead of recovery.

For people who’ve found a good rhythm, is it better to run a robot vacuum once a day or do smaller multiple runs in the messiest zones? I’m trying to keep it realistic, not spotless in an Instagram way. Just clean enough that walking barefoot doesn’t feel like a mistake.

I’m starting to think the magic isn’t owning a robot vacuum, it’s figuring out the schedule that actually fits how your house gets dirty.

Once every few days looked fine at first, but then the sun hits the floor and you see the little stuff near the kitchen, entryway, and couch. Once a day has been pretty solid for general upkeep, but some zones clearly live a harder life than others. Kitchen after dinner, entryway after everyone comes home, that one hallway where dust just appears for no reason.

So now I’m playing with room based runs instead of treating the whole house like it gets dirty evenly. Full floor run in the morning, quick kitchen and entryway pass later, no huge weekend cleanup spiral.

For people who have this dialed in, how often should a robot vacuum run to keep floors actually clean without overthinking it? Daily full run? Zone runs? Triggered by time, presence, after dinner, pets coming in? I’m curious what automations actually feel invisible after a while.
