An afternoon with an old...

... Pal of mine..

Sorry not sorry for the dum-dum joke XD

I actually salvaged and restored this one some time ago and initially I didn't really like it, because I didn't understand when you can use it. Now it's not one of my favorite but I enjoy it some times.

Cheers!

Is that even possible???

I'm soooo confused! My mantis molted 7 days after the last time!!

It was the 27th of June, now here is July 4

I understand that I fed her pretty well, but dayum, I surely wasn't prepared to this rush, that I didn't even check signals and so, apart for her being completely still, and she ate a cricket 2 days ago but was pretty full, so didn't event thought of giving her something since she still was round.. And possibly she decided to mock me, molting always on night or when I'm not around to watch 🤣 that little rascal..

Long time no see my friend..

It's been a whole lot since I used this bad Boi...

And Ooooh boiii...

For how much you strop it it will always pull a bit, till the point where it gets almost painful in some areas and with some angles.. But the Effectiveness and the sensations are simply top notch. In my opinion I think everyone should have at least a valet or a gem bullet tip (even better, that one is simply amazing) for getting those feelings, because are just one of a type. Two passes and I'm basically bbs mostly everywhere in my face ( apart for mustache cz yes, moustache). Change my mind.

Also, if you have never tried the balsamic fluids from extrò cosmesi, you Def should. Salina on top. Just egregious.

The overasked question

After last molt I decided to try my luck with some "good pics" in case I could see if male or female but for how much I try I still can't put a hand through the fire on it. What do you think?

Taken with two different phones and w/ w/o flash

Thx

Guys I think I made a frigging mistake..

Basically I gave to my mantis a red runner that probably was too big and strong for her and watching her seems like one go the front leg is damaged, like she isn't using it... Can It heal in the next molt..?

I'm so scared, I don't want to have doomed her life.. 😭

More and more daring!

Even after 30 hrs from molt, she's crazy lively. Can't but love her (or him? Idk if from video can be recognized, sadly cups are kinda foggy and not transparent as I wished..)

She literally run for it, didn't have the time to start recording but she was on the lid! Can't wait to have red runners to make her even more a huntress

u/desolationGlitch — 8 days ago

Ore than 24hrs after she bolted

As per title, now she feel exceptional (even too much) lively

She even curled around my finger maybe attempting to Taste me 😂, and I quickly sprayed her with some water just so she would at least drink.

Is it too soon to give her a cricket? Ive seen her show interest in the box with moving crickets in the background..

Sorry for the typo in the title 😅

Finally another molt!

Right on time, 15 days and last night she shed a second time since she's with me ❤️

Funny thing is I've dreamt of her molting last night 😂

I guess I'll never be able to see her molting, she always chose when I'm not home or sleeping 😭🤣

L3/L4 FYI, not sure exactly which of those 2

Since I don't know when happened, how much time should I wait before opening and watering?

I don't want accidentally to let her fall if happened in early morning

Look at her go😍

I'm so, so impressed by her

Two days ago she ate a bigger cricket but was difficult at the beginning because it kept kicking and she lost it 3 times.

She learnt, first time she went directly to amputate a back leg! First try! It's so fascinating, I never thought having a mantis could be so stressful but so giving!

Help with sex identification

It's the only pic I was able to take since she's always super active, only now after she ate a big cricket 19 hrs ago she went into sleep mode (and still difficult to frame haha)

I think she's an L2/L3

It's still too early to understand if she's male or female? If anyone can figure it out, thx!

Substitutes for fruit flies ?

I'm kinda scared, can't find a single shop that sell drosophila melanogaster for my mantis religiosa ( hydei I think are too big, she's L2/L3 don't know perfectly) are there good substitutes for feeding her in this delicate phase? She appreciate isopods but I know they aren't the best, and don't have a lot atm.

I wish to know

So, I really like insects, and I know a lot about them but It's my first time raising a mantis, and I'm kinda oblivious about technical stuff.

So can anyone explain me how can you understand in which stage a mantis is, all the "i1, i2, i3" etc. stuff(I still don't understand), when I can know the sex, and how (apart from dimensions) and proper general care?

As I already explained in a previous post, mine is an European mantis (mantis religiosa), or at least I'm pretty sure, because I found it in my workplace here in Europe and it's pretty green. It's pretty small, and I know for certain she molted at least one because I've seen her when I had into a simple plastic cup.

She's still pretty small but doesn't seem anymore the classic newborn neanide, and she actually search actively the food I provided in the almost auto-sufficient enclosure. The enclosure is about 35x35x35 glass cube with metal grating stripes I had back home when I raised stick insects. I know it's kinda big but I didn't initially programmed to raise her and now I'm stuck with it. Will it really be a problem? Because she's pretty active and really love to run around when she's not hanging from ceiling or leaves. Every time she sees me she run over to the slide doors and climb everywhere😂. Also, enclosure is pretty simple, plant substrate, dead leaves, some sticks, a vase in the middle with a rose full of Aphids, and yesterday I added some spiringtails, tropical isopods and powder blue isopods (that she hunted in a jiffy, one adult was enough to fill her belly).

Sorry for the WOT, I'm just excited to know and to have her.. When I'll come home from work I'll try to take more pictures of her..

Whatever you feel like to lmk, I'll gladly appreciate it since I really don't want to screw up, I'm already fond of her..

Tysm in advance

Help, I think I made a mistake

Hello, and as per title, I think I made a big big mistake..

I have this mantis religiosa I found and saved from an Hailstorm, it was really really small, probably first, max second stage..

I had an old enclosure and I decided to put on a terrarium.. Today arrived some spiringtails and isopods (tropical and powder blue) and ate literally a whole blue one, really satisfied, and some days ago already moulted, so it's bigger, a little more than my Phalanx.

Problem is that, now is late night and I was going to sleep and found a jumping spider (I'm pinning pics for reference) in my room, and without thinking I put it inside since I found it really cute..

Is the mantis doomed? 😭 I know for a fact that becomes really fragile when molting and being booth predators, I'm really scared I effed up mantis..

I'm even trying to find the spider, but it disappeared obv 🥲, and I kinda lost the sleep for how much I'm preoccupied for the mantis.. I'm kinda fond of her
