Technically this art was posted on Twitter prior to Vol 1, but marking as spoilers because I want to have a conversation about recent chapters SPOILERS IN COMMENTS

I need to know what the line "three sages conceal a secret" means.

Also, can anyone identify the brimmed cap?

Informal AMA. I'm a new fan with garbage theories. For fun, no spoilers

Do NOT answer my questions, except with more questions 😈

I have watched the first 3 episodes of the first season. I also read a bit more, but I can't read shonen, so idk what's happening when it's all actiony.

I've only known Will for an hour and a half, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.

Look at my son. He is so adorable and I love him.

First theory: that red haired dude. I'm not the biggest fan of shipping with minors, but if I were... I genuine think they will develop a close bond. Idk what type exactly. I imagine it must be platonically because ma boi has eyes only for that elfie girl. But.. idk. Red hair boy is obsessed with Will. Love that for them

Speaking of ”i don't ship minors usually" ... Is it just me or is there some tension between the black hair teacher and the white hair teacher??? Idk what it is... But maybe they should figure out that tension sexually...? Adult yaoi plz??

Next: general lore/ world building. Imma be so fr this isn't my thing so forgive me if I'm getting the tropes wrong. But I'm actually a YA Dystopia girlie. And I can't help but be hella suspicious when "the people in power" say you can't leave the city because there's nothing out there but monsters...

Also: I saw the debrief pages and why do Will and Elaria have the same birthday and last name?? I guess the name can be explained away like a Game Of Thrones Bastards Name Thing. Like they were given a generic name maybe? Idk. But I can't help but feel like their birthday is significant. There was a prophecy or something. It's literally called Wistoria Wand and Sword. He's the sword, she's the wand. They're both incredibly overpowered. Were they intended to be a single all-might hero that was split?

If dwarves are non magic combat warriors, does that allude that will is a decendant of dwarves? Are half dwarves a thing in this world?

Next in Silliness. Bro. That roommate. I literally rewound to see his name again on the screen. That fucking weirdo is named (f)Rosty (s)Nowman??? I mean, they've done a few puns with "willpower" or w/e but this is WAYY too much. I guess he probably does ice magic... But... There's something else about him. Whyyyyyy is he so obsessed with Will?? What is wrong with him?

If you want to, please ask me non spoilers questions and I will answer them to the best of my non existent knowledge.

I do know a tinge about a "Julius" characters because he showed up at the dwarf bar Will works at I think? And there's the green hair elf guy I think I saw in promo material.

But pretty much once the fighting starts in the manga I can't parse it. I have to wait until I have time to watch the anime to truly comprehend. But so far I know red hair boy has an obsession with will. And blue hair Julia is a jerk face.

Art styles used and what they represent

Just watched this cool YouTube video (link below but tldw here) about how witch hat atelier uses different art styles in different ways. Like how the dragon labyrinth is inspired by surrealist Escher stairs and Friedrich Siever. And how Art Nouveau is used in history flashbacks. And the brim hats are stylized differently than the pointy hats. Idk I'm not a huge art nerd but it was really cool to see someone explain and put words to some of the things I'd noticed on a vibe level. And point out things I never would have thought of. What cool art motifs have you noticed?

Eye contact observations ch 92-93

In the first scene, I knew it was cute that this is the first time Qifrey sees the atelier and he started thinking toward the future. But when I looked closer I noticed that while Qifrey is looking at the sky and stars and thinking about dragons, Olruggio is just looking at Qifrey the whole time. Every panel. It's basically that romance cliche when someone goes "wow the stars are beautiful" and the other one goes "you're beautiful"

In the second scene, after everything happened, Qifrey can't look at Olruggio at all. He doesn't want to lie to his face. It's definitely significant and intentional, I've been going through Qifreys scenes and Shirahama is good about blocking the scenes so Qifrey can see who he is talking to. It's actually kinda rare to see the right side of his face in profile, but it's this whole scene.

I love how the closer you look at this manga, the more you find. Every character is so well developed with their own mannerisms and body language. Maybe this seems obvious to a lot of people but on my first read through I definitely was a bit more focused on dialogue and the overall plot. I'm not the best at parsing what is going on between flashbacks and switching perspectives and stuff, so it's been really helpful to me to reread.

Manga chapter 61- Is she preggernat?

Idk the dress and the pose and worries about her health? But I don't think it was ever mentioned

SPOILERS who is Qifrey???

Is it just me or is that witch carrying a body smaller than an adult? Bro was >!found IN A COFFIN.!< Every other chapter this manga has some line or plot point about forbidden body magic and healing is super illegal. Coco's whole deal is trying to bring back a loved one. It's a huge theme. Qifrey says >!"I was the trial run. They were testing a new type of forbidden spell. A new possibility, overgrown with mayhem, scooped forth from the seeds of sown chaos. And the great cost which hope declares, is none other than despair"!<

>!That's why he didn't have a family claim him when they found him. That's why the blood of the brimhats lead beldy and the knights straight to him. That's why Qifrey is looking for a brimhat that looks like him. He's someone's loved one. A child who died. Maybe he even died long ago.!< Thoughts?

SPOILERS Rereading ch. 40 and putting it in context of ch. 93 IM IN SPAIN WITHOUT THE P! do not swipe unless you are caught up. Zoom to read-sry it's small

I was thinking as I read chapter 40 again that Olruggio seemed really angry and Qifrey was super cold so I cut and pasted a bunch of panels together so I could see the context all together and it made me sad so now you can be sad too.

SHUT UP I love Olruggio so much (moderate spoiler for chapter 38)

I just realized he is drying them off while yelling at them. I literally didn't see it the first time I read it he is such a sweetheart

What is this about??? From Kitchen ch 15

So for context they're gonna make pointed cap pastries like they saw at the great hall and olly says "it's easy to get carried away when you've got something to celebrate..." But when Tetia asks what they're celebrating he gets nervous and Qifrey quickly changes the subject???

Chronologically they first get home after the great hall IN CHAPTER 40 so um. Yeah. Please mark spoilers in the comments if you wanna finish that thought. Like if Olruggio was just celebrating their good health or the end of a long job or something he could say so. What can't he say? But Qifrey knows?? Sus

SPOILERS Can anyone explain the bird symbolism?

I feel like I'm staring at the pieces of a puzzle and I can't put it together. When I started the manga, the tree thing was mildly spoiled for me in that I knew it was important and related to Qifrey, so I started looking at all the times there are tree patterns incorporated into things. As I looked, I also noticed tons of stars and birds. I think I understand that the stars are referencing the old tale, but I still don't know what's with all the birds.

My best guess is that they represent magic, both good and bad.

I can only upload 20 pics, but there's dozens more.

SPOILERS Similarities between Agott, Coco, Qifrey, and Olruggio

I'm not good at theorizing what this represents or foreshadows, but I'm obsessed with how similar some things are.
