Severe tinnitus spike after CT scan with contrast dye – has anyone experienced this?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice or shared experiences because I’m honestly getting worried.
About 6 days ago I had a CT scan with contrast dye (iodinated contrast). During or shortly after the injection, my tinnitus suddenly became extremely loud — far beyond my normal baseline. It felt almost immediate and very intense.
I assumed it would calm down within hours or a couple of days, but now it has been nearly a week with no improvement at all. The ringing is still incredibly loud and intrusive.
I’m trying to understand whether anyone else has experienced:
a major tinnitus spike after CT contrast dye
ototoxic reactions to iodinated contrast
delayed recovery after contrast-related tinnitus worsening
A few questions:
Did it eventually improve for you?
How long did it take?
Did doctors take it seriously or offer any treatment?
Is there anything that helped reduce the spike?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. This has been extremely distressing.
Thank you.
