Everyone gets on Harry's ass about inviting the Gargoyles in, and Harry accepts it, but look at what he actually says:

>!"Okay, you! I'm officially tired of this! It's about time you showed yourself, or else leave me the hell alone!"!<

Showed yourself could have meant outside the threshold, and "or else" implies options. It's not a clear invite to me.
