A small update to the wallpaper picker I published recently separately from my rice. It now has two new options, firstly is whether to play videos in preview or not and whether you want an animation of the selected card or not.
Previewing a video uses a considerable memory but it was a requested feature so I added it as well as for the animation it was added because why not :). Also added an update section for those of you who already have my wallpaper picker installed.

Ever since I've posted my rice, there was somewhat a demand of my anime player, manga and novel reader, it wasn't packaged differently from my rice so many people or I think nobody really used it. And well my wallpaper picker was like beyond my imagination by this sub and some people were wanting it as a package as well, so I guess it's finally time for me to do it.

Let's see if this blows up so people who really did want these things get access to it.

PLEASE NOTE - I HAVE ONLY TESTED THIS ON HYPRLAND BUT IT SHOULD WORK WITH ANY WAYLAND COMPOSITOR.

You just need quickshell for it, and if you don't the script will install it for you.

Some more points about it - Test it in a new user first not on your main setup.
It may or may not be well maintained will depend on how much time I have but any and all bug reports are welcome.

One more thing, the install script first tries to install the command in ~/.local/bin but if it is not in your PATH it adds it in /usr/bin.

One more note specific to the wallpaper picker, it currently accepts most of the file types and you can set it's directory as well but if the command you use does not accept videos/gifs (eg- awww) it might crash, also you can leave it empty as well so the wallpaper picker itself will draw a layer on your desktop and display the wallpaper, which can be better since it stops videos playing when a window is drawn over it.

Hello guys it's me. I have integrated 11 themes into my rice which change everything borders, looks, lock screen, pet looks and even the effect on your screen. So far everything looks good and the animations are pretty smooth as well. It has almost everything you would want in a shell, network, calendar, notes, pet, clipboard, Github contribs, launcher, timer and whatever else you'd ever want. The themes take the color of your wallpaper but the designs of the pills etc are decided by the theme so you aren't stuck on a wallpaper with a theme. I never really thought I would make something like this since when I started out it was only for myself and I was quite satisfied earlier but well new ideas kept popping up and now I am here with 70k lines of code in my shell alone lmao.

Also since my earlier posts, many people were asking me to make an install script, so guys guess what, I have finally made an install script which will link everything up. The major blockers earlier were the reader setups, manga novel and anime, that's what was blocking me from making scripts since it'd require a venv. But well it's done as well now so now just use my install script with --extras and boom you get the readers. Pretty crazy I know.

So yeah that's basically it, I hope you guys like this I did put a lot of effort into this shi. And as always MY VIDEO IS AGAIN TOO LONG WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO WITH IT, I ALWAYS THINK I HAVE TOO MUCH TO SHOW SO IF YOU WATCH TILL THE END YOU REALLY HAVE MY THANKS, I KNOW IT'S DIFFICULT. And oh yea one more thing guys, this doesn't cover everything my rice has lmao, there's still shit like expose missing from the video missing.

Also a note guys - The script is only for arch and hyprland, I don't have any other distro and since I'm a working professional it'd be difficult for me currently to make it for other distros. If anyone does want to port it to any other distro (which I doubt since ts ain't that great) they are welcome to do so and have my full permission to use my shell's code anyway they'd like to :). Just a minor note linking to my shell would be more than enough and if you don't want to you can avoid that as well.

Also yes, before installing it directly I would suggest try it out in a test user first and only then do it since it's still only tested by me and obviously a single man can only do so much. Tell me in the comments if you like it :).

This is the current situation of my rice. Credits where it's due tho, I stole the GLSL and qsb shaders for the cava visualizer widget (it's pretty neatly optimized) from zesis shell. Also the workspace switcher is from there as well. https://github.com/zesis-shell/zesis, from here, pretty goated shi ngl. Supports most of the things and I just had to modify some lines to fit my shell.
My dots are https://github.com/dhrruvsharma/shell, however, it will be a pain to setup my dots for anyone, I have hardocded my username in some places, have 3 running python servers in venv they are particulary for the manga, anime and novel readers. I do plan on cleaning up my code once I get some nice free time but until then if you want my dots it will be a lot of manual work which I don't recommend. :)
