Louie ♥️

I lost my childhood dog of 13 years yesterday and my heart is hurting so much. He was the most special, sweet, charming boy. We got him when I was 10 and I’m 23 now, so it’s almost impossible to imagine life without him.

When I was a teenager, I had a lot of mental health struggles and Louie was my rock. We would spend hours out wandering and exploring together and I never imagined how precious those memories would become. I love him so much and I would kill for just one more sunset walk with him at his favourite park.

His physical health wasn’t the best for the last year or so, so at least I know he is not in pain anymore. I know he’ll find a nice warm spot to curl up wherever he is and get all the rest he needs and deserves.

I want to create a little memorial for him eventually, when it hurts less, and would love nothing more than a beautiful piece of artwork of him to put with it ♥️

Broken permanent retainer repair?

The permanent retainer/wire at the back of my bottom teeth has come loose on one side due to the adhesive coming off the tooth.

My orthodontist has retired so the last time this happened I went to Johnsonville dental. They charged me a whopping $200 just to stick it back on (mind you it literally took 5 minutes) so I REFUSE to go there again, I’d rather just rip the rest of the wire off and be done with it entirely 😭

Wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen and has recommendations for a dentist or ortho who won’t extort me?!?

WHERE ARE THE LESBIANS?

Open call for any and all Welly lesbians, who are you and where do you like to congregate and can I hang out with you?!? Being a lesbian in my 20s with zero other lesbians in my life sucks, I want the future I was promised (The L Word style lesbian friend group).

I’m literally down for anything I just want lesbians in my life 🙏

Dating apps as a lesbian are psychological torture

Big rant incoming.. apologies in advance 😭

Recently forced myself to get back on all the apps for the first time since I lost all hope and abandoned them a few years ago. I’ve always kinda known dating apps weren’t really for me cause I prefer romantic connections to naturally form (i.e. starting as friends or whatever) cause for me, going into a new connection with the goal of romance feels unnatural, forced and is just setting you up for disappointment. I also think the whole concept of dating apps is just very vain and shallow and brings out the worst in people.

But, sadly, I live in a very small city with a basically nonexistent lesbian community. I am in my 20s but work full time, and mostly work with people older than me, so I don’t have a lot of opportunities in my day to day life to meet queer women my my age. I do occasionally go out and go to parties and go to the one gay club in my city, and do have quite a few queer people in my social circles but sadly somehow I do not know many queer women, and absolutely NO lesbians except myself lol.

I’ve never been all that interested in dating - I have always just been preoccupied with other things in my life - but in the back of my mind I was always hopeful that I’d just naturally meet someone in the wild and all the stars would align and we’d just hit it off. But I’m now 23 and have never been in a relationship or really even dated (my few experiences have been casual sex and one weird situationship with a friend), and I realised that if I want romance I probably have to go out looking for it, hence the reluctant return to dating apps a couple of months ago…

But my god I am very close to giving up again. I will say I’ve gotten a decent amount of likes and matches but I’ll often message first and get no reply or get a very dry reply. Had one girl who I was super interested in and we moved the convo over to IG but she would sometimes take days to reply which led to the conversation not really being able to go anywhere, and then she ghosted me after about 2 weeks (lowkey broke my heart a lil lol whatever).

I’m also autistic and that combined with the fact that I don’t have much dating experience makes things a lot harder for me. I’m a little nervous about being too forward and coming off like a creepy dude so I don’t like to flirt heaps in the beginning, and I also prefer to get to know someone quite well before making any moves or meeting up. But then I wonder if my lack of forwardness is making them feel like I’m not interested in them or that I’m boring which in turn makes them lose interest.

I am more masc presenting and typically swipe on fems so I wonder if that also gives off the vibe that I will be very forward or be the ‘dominant’ one, but that’s just not the way I am (or at least not in the early stages) and I sort of need at least some kind of “go ahead” or a nudge from the other person before I feel comfortable really making a move. It also just kinda sucks always being the one expected to message first, put in the most effort to the conversation or be vulnerable by putting my feelings out there without knowing if anything is reciprocated. Sometimes it feels like a humiliation ritual honestly especially because the few talking stages I’ve had have amounted to nothing in the end.

Anyways I really just wanted to have a rant, but if anyone does have any advice or thoughts or if there’s anyone who’s similar to me but has had success with dating apps or even just with dating in general, please do share cause I am losing faith and starting to think maybe I’m destined to be alone 🥲
