Just cleared Star Wars: Rebellion (1998) for the first time. Anyone who played this game?
It was really hard to get a grasp on how to play it but after getting the hang of it, it was kinda fun. Gonna play as the Rebels now
Is Dawn of X Omnibus good start for a relatively new X-Men reader?
I've read some works by Clairemont and New X-Men by Morrison/Astonishing Xmen by Whedon, but I am not really familiar with what happened after that, or other X-titles. Would it be okay for a reader like me to start on House of X and this Omni?

Weird Route often leaves the players asking 'What's the point of this?'. Genocide route of UT's premise was simple. You kill everyone you see. The perverted allure is easy to understand.
But Weird Route lacks such flair. It seems we simply torment poor Noelle. The question is... why?
I believe the point of Weird Route is 'Player creating a world where everyone is alive and happy'. I know it sounds contradictory, but hear me out.
In Weird Route, we basically force Noelle into obedience, no matter how heinous our command may be. However Kris, our cage, is anything but obedient. They have their own secret agenda, and wrest control from us when we are in their way.
So the point of us tormenting Noelle is basically us creating a strong vessel we can perfectly control. And as many have already speculated we may get to move onto her body in the future. But another question, what for? To freeze everyone to death?
Let's focus on the act of freezing itself. We like to joke about Berdley being a 'frozen chicken.' But why do we freeze food in the first place?
To preserve them.
After Chapter 4, we can safely assume the Prophecy's end will likely to be tragic. And the theme of Predeterminism and the Lack of Freedom have been repeated over and over in the story. So it's probably not too far fetched to assume prophecy will come to pass and The Roaring will occur.
However we have to remember that the prophecy is not about 'Everyone died, the end'. It does talk about how to save both worlds. So, we'll still get to save the world in a normal playthrough. But, at what cost?
How would you feel if the characters you liked, like Lancer and Ralsei lost their lives for the sake of 'the plot'?
If Susie just died unceremoniously, without her moment to shine, so Kris can go on and save everyone?
It would be pretty devastating for sure.
We can see many examples of media where fans didn't like how the story ended, or how certain character was treated even when it finished with a supposedly 'happy' conclusion. Just like how Old Man didn't like the ending enough not to write further books.
So what would happen after the end?
The Prophecy states: "THE ANGEL, BANISHED, WILL FINALLY MEET WITH ITS DESIRE." Our common desire as players is a "Good Ending," but in a normal playthrough, we may be forced to accept a bittersweet goodbye and move on. So now the characters like Kris can make their own choices, make their own life.
Escapism is another important facet of the story. Even though reality may be harsh and painful, and we'd like to run away to another world to forget about it, we have to face it to live on.
We cannot forever hold onto the past, nor the fantasy. Adventure cannot continue forever like Susie wants. The hero has to return home and grow up. We'll have to make goodbye, even if we may be discontented about some parts of how it all ended.
But then...what if Gaster, the devil appears, just like Chara came to us after the Genocide Route, and gives an offer you cannot easily refuse?
It's common joke to tease Kris like 'Sorry buddy, this is SAVE FILE 2.' Like that, Weird Route was deliberately designed to be played after 'the normal' playthrough. It is nigh impossible to find it by yourself on the first time you play the game. You need specific knowledge from an outside source.
So we have to ask, What would prompt us to play the whole game again?
What if the Devil whispers to you...
'WHAT IF I TELL YOU, THERE IS A WAY YOU CAN SAVE EVERYONE, AND MAKE THEM HAPPY?'
If you accept this and refuse to let things be, he'll tell you how to access this 'Weird' route. Even though the characters we cherished will be hurt or killed in the process, by getting stronger, we'll be able to acquire the power Gaster once possessed.
The power to create HIS DELTARUNE. The power to recreate worlds.
We can agree on that the Weird Route is where We (Player) become, quote unquote, 'The Bad Guy'
Let's look at the 'bad guys' of this game.
King/Queen/Tenna -> They all fight for the happiness of others
* King - Fights for his subjects, Darkners
* Queen/Tenna - Wants Lightners to be happy
What about the Knight Conspiracy Group? I think their shared goal is to fix tragedies happened in the past.
Asgore wants to fix his family broken by the event that made him lose the job. And regardless of the identity of the Knight, it would be safe to assume the reason Carol/Kris are conspiring behind our back has something to do with the disappearance of Dess.
They want to make everything 'happy', normal again.
So when we become the villain, we step into their shoes.
We want to fix the tragedy, and everyone to be safe and happy. Even though others who don't know this may hate you and accuse of being evil, that's okay. Because you have a greater purpose.
The key to the Weird route lies in power.
Noelle will get stronger, and as the Sword Route implies, she and Kris are nothing but tools for the bigger game. They will be 'used up'. Others, like Susie/Ralsei and all the Lightners will be killed to make us stronger.
But it will be fine.
Because we know that we will have the ultimate power, resurrect them and give them a happy life in the end.
The ultimate end justifies the means.
At the end of Sword Route, we obtains the Shadow Mantle, a tool that will help us win the fight that was destined to be lost.
Like that, we'll acquire a power that will help us defy fate.
In the normal route, the Hometown will be devastated by the aftermath. It will be fixed, but scars would remain.
However in this new route we'll create OUR new town, where everyone is happy and grateful.
The name of the Castle Town is named '(YOU)town'. Because they may have been created by the Knight lorewise, but they came into being thanks to you playing the game. (The prince of this land, Ralsei acknowledges this existence of 'us')
So in the Weird Route, the recreated Hometown will be renamed to (YOU)town. And everybody will be happy to see you and call you The Boss.
But of course, like all the deal with the Devil goes, there will be a catch. The people you saved may seem happy, but it's not by their will. They are dolls, molded by your will to be an image you see fit. You have built a false Utopia, a wholesome puppet show. But nobody can move on their own.
They are totally frozen.
This is the ANGEL'S HEAVEN.
Hey, but that's okay. Because we got a Happily Ever After. And as Ramb put it, it's FUN!
I'm thinking of binge reading them once I get my hands on Mutant Masscare (Epic Collection) and Fall of the Mutants (Uncanny X-Men Omni vol 6) this year
