Tascam 414 tips
Howdy group. Working on a record with my band and we’re using once again the tascam 414. I’m pretty well versed with these machines and have used them since the early 00s when you could get them new for super cheap.
Doing something different this time though, we’re putting an se electronics titan condenser and an sm57 through a separate mixing desk and taking an output of that into track 4. It’s giving a blend of the 2 mics for the drums, which are a sparse kit.
Seems to be working but it’s been hard to get the volume consistent. It’s going in at 3db on the strip and then playing back at well under that. I really hope it isn’t the tascam itself starting to fade out.
Basically, any advice for routing multiple mics into one track via a mixing desk. It all sounds good to my headphones but the playback loses a lot of volume.
