Random Old Dudes Hitting On My Husband???
Scene: The park near the pool, 7 am ish in Boone. I've already ridden off while my husband is tearing down camp alone. A man in his 50s in super high speed gear on his bike rolls up and skids a little, (I'm imagining an elderly greaser on a 21 speed in skin tight RAGBRAI Jersey and a padded butt) drifting off from the path, stopping directly next to our car. He yells out towards my husband "Are you comfortable, Princess?" (Bobo prefers to be called Baby Girl, but okay. Also, we are not pineapple people.)
This guy continued negging until Bobo waved him away and said "Just get back on your bike and leave me alone." I guess at first they thought this dude was offering to help, but this is the second time an older guy has stopped to flirt.
For reference, we use a pop up canopy, lightweight backpacking tent, and air mattress. We have camping table and chairs in front of our setup, but it all fits underneath. We never encrouch on anyone else's space and offer our canopy space during the rain and shade during the heat. Very very minimal compared to what we use for other camping festivals like Bonnaroo (which we work medical for) or Louder than Life (which we share camping space with our buddies every year).
There's no way this guy was offended we were in his area as he didn't camp near us. We are doing RAGBRAI alone and not on a team, as well as this being our first year. Bobo is super duper cute and funny, so maybe this guy just isn't sure how else to ask them out or wishes he could hang out with us? Is this normal behavior? Once again, we are not swingers. I told Bobo just to let dudes know we aren't interested next time.
