Coolant Reservoir ejected!

Got home and parked my 97 Sambar KS4. As I walked toward my door I heard a thunk and turned around to see my coolant reservoir on the ground with coolant leaking out of it and the rubber hose. Got it back on and the rubber hose back in but lost coolant to below the Low line. I've got coolant and I'm letting the engine cool down overnight. Do I need to fill coolant at the radiator or just top off the reservoir? Do I need to worry about air in the line? What is the procedure you recommend for dealing with this? Ideas on preventing it happening again?

Priorities-bike rack!

Fabbed up a rack from part of an old metal step platform and a spare Rocky Mounts thru axle mount that I had in a drawer. Really stoked how it turned out. Found a second mount that I'll add. Now to figure out how to carry the wheels.

My main goal was to have something that didn't impact the hauling capability and didn't require any permanent alteration to the truck. The metal is held on to the stock rack with U bolts. All design objectives achieved!

Wheel/tire size upgrade advice

I'm bewildered by all of the threads about wheel and tire sizes, so I'd like to ask what others in my use case have done. I have a 97 Sambar KS4 with the stock wheels and tires. I purchased it in July to use as a daily driver for getting to my new teaching position that is 4.2 miles each way on a road that is mainly 45 mph with about a mile at 50 mph. I would like the ability to drive on dirt roads in the nearby Pisgah National Forest to go mountain biking. I don't want to lift the truck. First question: wheel size - 13" or 14", steelies or alloy? Second question: tire size? Specific recommendations appreciated! Note: I'm a lifelong bike mechanic who is learning to wrench on cars with this truck (and the help of this group, the mini truck forum and YouTube university). Thanks in advance for sharing your experience

Questions about ignition tuning parts

I recently purchased a new distributor cap, rotor, sparkplug and sparkplug wires from a reputable parts supplier. I installed everything yesterday and ran into several issues. 1. The new rotor is missing the metal spring clip that secures it to the distributor shaft. 2. The vacuum hose port on the distributor cap is a smaller diameter than the original and I can only secure the hose at the very base of the port. 3. The sparkplug wires don't have the same positive connection feel as the original ones at either end. 1 of them easily pops off of the distributor cap at the slightest touch. 4. The wire that runs from the coil to the distributor cap has a different orientation to the plug on the coil side which prevents me from putting the coil cover back on. It is also twice as long as the original. This was listed together as what was needed for my 1997 Sambar KS4 en07. I am learning to do this work myself thanks to the Kei truck community, so my questions come from lack of experience. Are thr issues I listed negligible and just the reality of getting close enough parts to keep these trucks running or are there better more compatible parts out there? Will these parts work? I ended up only changing the plugs after I got no start with all of the new parts and backtracked my way to getting the truck to start. This led to my discovery of the rotor issue and a mismatch of the cylinder to distributor cap issue. I definitely need a new distributor cap and rotor. Greatly appreciate everyone's wisdom in advance.

New Music Day

Speakers finally arrived, so time to get the new head unit and speakers installed. It is a significant upgrade from nothing but the rattles of the truck, but another pair of speakers and a subwoofer are in the future to make it actually music worthy...

Radio recommendations?

I'm looking to get a new double din radio with a backup camera for my 97 Sambar truck. I'd l9ve to hear what others have installed and recommend! Thanks in advance! And yes, I know a backup camera seems a bit unnecessary but I've got impaired vision in my left eye and that's the one most useful for backing up and looking through the rear window.

Resurrecting the plastic bumper

Meguire's Ultimate Black made a huge difference in the condition and appearance of the plastic on my Sambar!

Hose ID needed

What is this cracked hose running from the air filter box on my 1997 Sambar KS4? I think it's a carburetor hose but the picture of that part at Oiwa doesn't look like the same length or diameter.

Suggestions for rust treatment

I'm looking to treat the rust on the load bar on my 97 Sambar. I'm specifically wondering how to treat the interior of the bar to treat and prevent rust inside the hollow tubing. Any experience or ideas?

New Truck Day!

Finally got my insurance and registration for my 1997 Sambar today! I took delivery on Friday of last week and have been doing little projects in anticipation of finally getting to drive it. I replaced the shifter bushings (the ones at the actual shifter were long gone), treated some rust on the tailgate hardware, removed the seats and vinyl flooring to give a thorough cleaning and make a template for some rubber coin matting that I'm going to make into a floor with closed cell foam on the back to help deaden the sound, and started trying to figure out why no windshield washer fluid will come out of the nozzles. Loaded it up with scrap wood and made a dump run with the AC on to give it a proper first drive. Next up is GPS speedometer and tachometer install, then a new radio. AND I got an Asakoryu sticker to throw on it in honor of my favorite Sumo wrestler and my new truck's namesake!
