Loving my shield x, except for how its beaver tail pokes me as I carry it.

Are there reasons to avoid sanding down the stupid thing? I don't need the beaver tail the way I hold the gun, but I was wondering if there's a reason to avoid this kind of alteration.

Is this something anyone is able or willing to make? I would rather mount a standoff device rather than buy a revolver over for contact shot defensive scenarios.
