A better way to make friends in Dunners?

When I lived in Auckland I was in a large FB group that was pretty good for finding new people to do activities with (usually hikes but also board games, skating, etc.). Since moving to Dunedin I have found a few groups similar but they are all women-only, which is great, but I have missed having a bigger pool of all kinds of people to meet up with for quiz nights, outings, activities, board games, etc.

I've often wished someone would make one for down here, but ya know, maybe that just means I have to make one. But it would be pointless without a decent amount of people to get started, so I am wondering how many of y'all would be keen for a better way to connect with other people in that awkward 20s/30s post-uni age bracket here? And if you'd be keen, what platform would work best? I have been part of a small WhatsApp group for something similar, but also FB and Discord are options (and open to other suggestions), but it just depends on what people already use/prefer.

Anyway, I'm just an introvert who needs better ways to be social in this beautiful city, and thought this could be cool!

(And yes, I know about Dunedin Young Professionals, but they seem to mostly just do social drinks and the odd event. I'm looking at more of a flexible group where individuals can propose and organise hangouts fairly regularly rather than anything super official.)

33 [F4M] NZ/Online: What's up, nerds?

Hiya! I am a creative, nerdy, active woman from little NZ. Looking for an interesting person to chat to, and on the odd chance there's a fellow kiwi on here, maybe even get to know IRL!

I am a big reader, board game/TTRPG lover, a sewist, a leftie Greens voter, and someone who would prefer to get up at 6am for a walk over staying up till 6am on a night out. I love a long walk through a city as much as a beautiful hike, and I absolutely adore an activity. Lawn bowls? Kubb? Tennis? Archery? Whatever it is, I'm down to give it a try, even if I'll likely be bad at it.

I'm really interested in kind, enthusiastic people who always have something they're learning or a goal they're reaching towards. Fellow nerds and creatives especially welcome, what's your passion and what are you working on?

Indie designers - where do you sell?

Hi Dunedin fam!

Is there anywhere in Dunedin where indie designers can sell hand made clothing (either on consignment or rent-a-rack type thing)? I used to make and sell garments back in Wellington and I'd love to get back into it, but I feel quite out of the loop with it all here.

I've seen a couple like Urban Crafters but they tend to be more gifty/kidswear vibes which isn't quite the same market (or price point) I'm in. Others tend to be focused on preloved/vintage name-brand designer which also isn't quite what I'm looking for.

Previously, I was a part of a couple pop up stores where small businesses came together to run a space for set periods which were quite successful, but I haven't heard of anything like that here. Any ideas? Otherwise I'll look into markets, but it would be nice to have somewhere more stable rather than big hectic days a few times a year that can be hit or miss with sales.

TIA for any ideas!
