My wife grew up in Oceanside and spent several years in the area around Libby Lake. We are looking into moving to Oceanside in a few years, and Libby Lake area is appealing from a price standpoint. My wife has some reservations about it because of some things (violence, crime, etc.) that happened there 15-20 years ago while her family was living there. I've heard that it has cleared up a lot recently, but I thought I'd ask. What are your thoughts about it?

Particuarly for those in California, how much of your public sector work experience was applicable toward PE licensure? I'd like to work public but I've heard mixed reports about how much the experience migh apply to me getting licensed. What should I look for to make sure I get good early career experience?

What is your work like? What's the day to day? What kind of projects are you working on?

Edit for clarity: I mean water/wastewater

I currently work in the private sector for a small civil firm that does floodplain work, small land dev jobs, septic system design, as well as a few other small kinds of work. I'll keep working here until I have my undergrad degree, then I want to switch to the w/ww sector until I get my PE. Once I have that, I'd like to try making a transition to public/municipal work. Is that kind of switch feasible? What kinds of upsides and dowsides are there to it?
