Apple replaced my 13 Mini with a new one!
My 13 Mini got water damage (PSA: don’t run tap water on a 4 year old phone), and Apple replaced it with a brand new one for $399. I asked if it was refurbished, and the associate said they replace them with new phones.
Here’s to 4 more years of Mini!
Edit: the associate may have been wrong (“Apple may use parts or products that are new or previously used Apple genuine parts that have been tested and passed Apple functional requirements.”), but to my eyes this phone looks and feels brand new. Perfect glass front and back, perfect body, 100% battery health. If it was used, they have the best refurbishment process by far. And yes I did have to turn in my phone to get the replacement. And, yes, I know I could have saved money buying elsewhere or bought a newer phone. Thanks for your concern.
