Battery Failure

Leasing a 2025 elite since last August. On my drive home from the dealership I got the charge door open notification. We pulled over to check and of course it was closed. After that the notification would come and go, sometimes accompanied by “service high voltage system”. I ran a diagnostic check with On Star and it told me to take it into the dealership; they replaced the door and I was golden for 6 months. Last week the car wouldn’t charge at home (level one) so I took it to the dealership. The battery has failed and is being replaced this week. Luckily I have a loaner to use while it’s in the shop. Since I’m using level one at home, occasionally I take it to charge at a Target nearby that has Electrify America chargers. I’d done this a few times but after the most recent charge I noticed a lot of heat coming off the car, no burning smell, but the hood was warm to the touch which had never happened before. A week later this happened. Could the public charger have caused this or was my battery destined to fail? Also, what if the new battery fails as well? Is the warranty a one and done kind of thing? Will they replace it again? My service technician told me the cost for the battery is over $10,000 (thankfully covered this time). I hadn’t installed a level 2 charger on my garage since the level one usually got me the charge I needed for my every day activities, but some trips to a distant airport necessitated the public charging. Is this my sign to install the charger? Thanks for your input.
