Things You Wish You Knew Before Picking Where to Live

My husband (33) and I (32 F) are potentially relocating to O’ahu near the Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam. We are moving from southern Alabama. What are some things we wouldn’t know that would be helpful? Things like what roadways to avoid bc it’s always involved with heavy traffic? Is it easy to add a window unit to most buildings? I assume we will need AC, bc we are used to it. Areas to avoid bc of high noise level - our work schedules will start at 4 AM? What is a reasonable drive time - is it impossible to keep it 30 minutes or less?

Visiting this month

My husband and I are visiting for work this next month. What are some things you would suggest us doing and seeing? We would love beach suggestions bc we are beach people. We do have a dog and would like to bring him to a beach at least once if possible. We are very open minded and willing to try new things. We are not big bar people as we don’t drink but are willing to go for some yummy food. We have already seen the USS Albacore (edited) and tried some local food at the River House and loved it all. Sincerely, a tourist excited to do local experiences in your beautiful town

Elderly dog - chicken allergy - fresh food

My 11 year old, relatively healthy, mixed breed 35 pounds is allergic to chicken. We were using Purina rx, but after being on it a year, the next 3 years progressed into him being starving all of the time. We tried Hills, and he will not eat it. We went to a limited ingredient brand, but after 7 months, we are noticing changes that we don’t like- he’s acting very hungry again, his hair has thinned, horrible breath, smelly gas, and stinky poops. Additionally, around 4 months in, he has begun having problems with the strength in his back legs. This could be his old age or related to us changing an arthritis medication, but it could also be related to the food. I looked into fresh food, and wanted to know your pros and cons on where to get it from as at this point, we are strongly considering going back to the one that he enjoyed and seemed to thrive on but was always hungry.
