Specifically what bad things will happen when booking with an OTA?
I've seen A LOT of people saying never book flights with an OTA, only ever book directly with the airline. Which I get. But I'm just wondering what SPECIFICALLY is the issue? Every time my flight has gotten cancelled or delayed in the past, the airline has re-booked my flight without having to ask, and given free accommodation for the night if necessary. Will this still be the case when booking through an OTA? Is it only actually an issue if I have to cancel or reschedule the flight of my own will? Because the chances of me changing my own flight are much lower than the chances of my flight getting cancelled or delayed so I wouldn't be too worried in that case. Also, the price difference here is at least $800 USD just FYI so it seems insane to pay that much more for the small chance that something will go wrong. Also, if I was going to book with an OTA, is there one that's the least bad? Maybe Expedia, Priceline, or Trip com?
Any input would be great, thanks!
