Disabled facilities grant for communal area
I live in a shared ownership flat on the 2nd floor (top) in England. The building/communal areas are owned and managed entirely by Bromford housing association.
The building has no lift and I am wondering if anyone has had success getting a lift installed in a communal area with a disabled facilities grant?
I am disabled and a manual wheelchair user but ambulatory - obviously was not disabled when I bought the 2nd floor flat with no lift! Because of this my wheelchair lives in my car. The stairs are getting increasingly more difficult and I cannot do things like getting shopping up the stairs or taking the recycling downstairs independently, and I live alone so have to wait for family to come and help. A lift would give me a lot of independence.
Has anyone had a similar situation or advice please?
