[Canzano] "Poaching penalty" lawsuit. 20M total.

Per Canzano

"I’m told by sources that Oregon State and Washington State also paid the MW approximately $10 million each to settle the $55 million ‘poaching penalty’ lawsuit. These figures are similar to the numbers thrown around in early settlement discussions in the summer of 2025."

[Discussion] Fandango owned by Versant (USA Sports) could be the direct-to-consumer free streaming service for Olympics sports + some basketball games

Fandango is making a move into free streaming supported by ads and sports are expected to play a central role. This week, The first major sports move was the recent announcement that Bundesliga matches (German Soccer League) would begin airing on the streaming service this year.

With USA Sports being a media partner of the Pac-12, this will be a win for both parties. USA Sports would also be able to cross advertise / promote both services (USA Sports and Fandango) to everybody watching.

Another streamer that some people thought could be an option, Victory+ has lost multiple teams because the service failed to make its required payments to those teams. Texas Rangers left this week, Anaheim Ducks also notified that are leaving.

Washington State ‘continuing to explore options’ for where to play Week 13 game presently set against Oregon State. Lumen Field in Seattle is the main option.

The Oregonian

  • "WSU does not wish to host a game in Pullman on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is “continuing to explore options” that include moving the game to Seattle, according to a team spokesman"
  • "Merton Hanks, Pac-12 executive associate commissioner for football operations, told The Oregonian/OregonLive last month that “all locations are on the table” for OSU’s game at WSU."

  • "The possibility of moving the game to Seattle is still on the table, and possibly even more viable with the Seahawks on the road on Nov. 29"

  • The cost? Get this — $0. I expect it to be a free offering. No paywall. No subscription fee. This is an easy-access play all the way for the Pac-12. Given what I’ve heard during the last 48 hours, I expect the Pac-12’s final media piece to be monetized using sponsors and advertisements, but fans won’t be footing the bill.
  • Pac-12 Enterprises will handle all the production.
  • The Pac-12’s fourth piece of the media-rights package will include 15-20 non-conference men’s basketball games. It also includes a large chunk of women’s basketball games and all the Pac-12’s Olympic sports content.
