Is there a blood test for Nitric-oxide level or PDE5 levels, can doc order it?

Since Erection requires more of Nitric oxide and less of PDE5, is there a blood test for these?

Meds like Viagara/Cialis work by reducing PDE5 (aka PDE5-inhibitors), thereby increasing the effect of Nitric-oxide.

So measuring these in the body seems to make common sense, before one uses pills.

Are there tests like that? Can docs order it?

Difficulty putting condom on. Does putting lube inside/around condom helps put it on?

Have ED so much so that sometimes I can't even put the condom on as the penis is only semi-hard or half-erect.

So the condom doesn't roll over the penis and hard to put on.

Also, even if I'm able to put on the condom, lack of sensation due to extra-layer of condom makes ED worse and slowly loses any slight erection during sex if there's any.

I generally don't use any lube.

Does putting LUBE in/around the condom prior to putting it on make it EASIER to put on the condom if penis is soft?

Anyone with ED experience similar issue with putting on condom and losing erection during sex, does using lube help?

Doctor refused any penile doppler ultrasound test or penile biothesiometry test

Went to doctor/urologist in SF Bay area who is said to specialize in ED/sexual dysfunction.

He refused to order any Doppler ultrasound test (meant for vascular/arteries causes of ED) or Biothesiometry test (meant for neurological causes of ED).

He said their clinic/urologists don't order any these tests and these tests are only of academic value (!?). He just prescribed Viagara/Cialis.

Instead, he said their clinic does Shockwave therapy if I want. It's not covered by insurance and is paid out of pocket.

I'm prediabetic (high HbA1c), slightly high cholesterol, and hypothyroid, so my ED could well be due to vascular/blood flow issues.

I'm surprised he wouldn't do Doppler that diagnoses blood flow issue, but recommends Shockwave therapy which treats blood flow issue. Also, wouldn't the penile Doppler Ultrasound help to diagnose/confirm blood flow from arteries or rule out Venous Leak as the cause of ED?

  • Do urologists/ED specialists typically order Doppler Ultrasound? Any ED specialists in SF Bay area, US one can go to?

Any doctors specializing in ED in SF Bay area who can order doppler or vascular ED tests?

Anyone know of any doctors specializing in helping identify the root-cause and treat ED in the SF Bay area?

I have BlueCross PPO insurance.

I saw a urologist but looks like they're reluctant to identify root-cause, and just prescribe Viagra/Cialis.

There are ways they can test for Vascular ED issues like Doppler test and venous leak, but they seem reluctant to do them.

Looking for a good doctor specializing in the ED/sexual issue.

Hypothyroidism and erectile dysfunction

Been having Erectile dysfunction ED issues. Recently had blood test done which showed:

  • mild Hypothyroidism (TSH ~8.0 to 10.0), along with one test showing some Hashmoto's antibodies. Been taking Levothyroxin 25mcg for 3 months, and now TSH is ~5.0

  • borderline prediabetes (HbA1c 5.8)

  • Borderline high cholesterol (Total cholesterol ~200, Triglyceride ~80, vldl 15, ldl 135, hdl ~50).

Can the hypothyroidism or other conditions above cause ED?

Anyone's ED resolved after resolving it?

Can borderline high cholesterol cause erectile dysfunction

Been having Erectile dysfunction ED issues. Recently had bloodwork that showed:

  • mild Hypothyroidism (TSH ~8.0 to 9.0)

  • borderline prediabetes (HbA1c 5.8)

  • Borderline high cholesterol (Total cholesterol ~200, Triglyceride ~80, VLDL15, LDL 135, HDL ~50).

Could one of these be the cause? Is this cholesterol level bad enough to cause ED?

Anyone's ED resolved after resolving it?
