Capital letters

Hey y’all. I’m on page 3 of the preface to Phenom. Of Spirit, A.V. Miller translation, and Hegel writes,

“The true shape in which truth exists can only be the scientific system of such truth. To help bring philosophy closer to the form of Science, to the goal where I can lay aside the title ‘love of knowing’ and be actual knowing—that is what I have set myself to do.”

Firstly, Hegel is a beautiful writer. Secondly, what is meant here by Science? What’s up with the capital letters? Thirdly, how is love of knowing/actual knowing different to what he writes earlier on page two about the bud disappearing in the “bursting-forth” of the blossom?

Thanks.

I’ve just purchased the Phenomenology of Spirit

Is there anything I should be aware of before I start reading it? I bought the A.V. Miller translation.

Christ’s Radicalism

Good day to you all. I’ve been reading through the Gospel of Luke today—having finished chapter nine but a moment ago—and I am shaken up by what I can only describe as Christ’s radicalism for the pursuit of the kingdom of God. Was every second of his day devoted to God? I rededicated myself to Christ at the age of thirty after a decade of atheism, and reading the gospels with fresh eyes has me turned upside down.

I desire Christ, and I desire to pursue the kingdom, and I fear all of the ways in which I say, “First, let me,” because I believe Christ would respond, “First seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness.”

All sin amounts to adultery, in my eyes. No one can serve two masters; so, when it comes to work, to family, to leisure, to hobbies,—all of the earthly, sociocultural activities that one may enjoy—aren’t these idols?

I am disheartened that the cost of following Jesus
Christ is too high.

Guidance

Hello. I’ve recently recommitted to Christ after nearly a decade of atheism. I was raised non-denominational, but—to be honest—I don’t think I ever had a genuine relationship with Christ in which the fruit of the spirit was not only apparent, but flourishing, because I was so recalcitrant to pruning. Well, my fear of the Lord is derived from the fact that, without Christ, it is wishful to think that I even bear spoiled rotten fruit, when in actuality I am barren. I am still proud.

My relationship with my parents is borderline nonexistent. They divorced when I moved out of the house, and me and my devout brother took it hard. I always sort of knew they would—children possess keen perceptions for those sorts of things, do they not?—and even felt vindicated for a short time. When my dad tries to reach out to me, I struggle intensely with even responding with a casual, “hello, how are you?” My father was angry and terrifying and adulterous. He had a difficult childhood; and I wish that I could absolve him, because I still judge him. I can understand that the measure in which I judge, I will be judged, and if that is the case, I should fear God even more than I judge my father, but I do not. Pray for me, please.

I am a sinner and I pray to Christ to help me forgive as I have been forgiven. The grace of God is a gift, so, how do I receive it? So that I may also give grace.
