Student Looking to Enter the Semiconductor Industry

Hi everyone,

I'm a Materials Science master's student finishing my thesis in about three months, and I'm hoping to start a career in the semiconductor industry.

I have hands-on experience with characterisation techniques such as SEM, XRD, EDX/EDS, and confocal microscopy, along with a solid theoretical background in materials science.

How transferable are these skills to semiconductor roles? Are there any additional techniques, software, or fundamentals (e.g., semiconductor physics, thin films, lithography, cleanroom processes) that I should learn before applying?

I'd appreciate any advice from people working in the industry. Thanks!

Ahh, must be nice to be privileged like this!

Another privilege influencer who sits on a high horse and acts like everyone has the luxury to ‘reflect on their true desires’ while ignoring that most people are just trying to survive day to day.

And this so-called ‘soul-searching philosophical influencer’ has the audacity to post a story asking "what are your future goals," then sit back and moral-police the replies from followers who are in reality not living in some utopia while he sits on his privilege pedestal, then turns around and judges people’s answers as if they’re making ‘wrong life choices,’ all while comfortably speaking from a position where survival isn’t even part of the equation. ANOTHER VAAI AS A SERVICE GANG FOUND

Am I the only one thinking like this?
