Balancing Gestational Diabetes and Incompetent Cervix
I understand we can't give medical advice on this sub but I guess I'm looking more for reassurance from those with similar experiences.
We are 25w with an IVF pregnancy. Due to age (pushing 40) and assisted reproductive technology we were labeled high risk from the start. This is my first pregnancy.
After battling hyperemesis gravidarium in the first trimester and losing almost 10% of my body weight, we started getting more frequent scans/ checks and were sent to MFM. At the 20w anatomy scan they discovered I had incompetent cervix (short cervix) and was put on pelvic rest, modified rest (not full bed rest but low activity and no lifting, stretching, twisting, etc), and progesterone suppositories.
The progesterone worked well so far and across my weekly scans they've determined the incompetent cervix isn't getting better but isn't getting worse.
Fast forward to 24w and the glucose test. I fail the 1-hr and the 3-hr is right at the limits across the board (fasting looked good but hourly checks at 1, 2, 3 hrs did not). MFM says we are going forward with a diagnosis of gestational diabetes/ GDM and not to be concerned because it's common. She puts me on glucose monitoring 4x/day to see if it can be managed with diet (we already eat pretty healthy but apparently it's the placenta causing the GDM and not what we eat) and also sends me an exercise plan (moderate exercise 3-4+ times a week, 10k steps a day, etc).
My question, anyone else that has dealt with both a modified rest or bedrest order (for any reason not just incompetent cervix) and also tried to balance that with a workout plan for GDM that doesn't jeopardize the bedrest orders? Any tips or ideas? I mean I will do (metaphorical) cartwheels on fire if it's what it takes to help baby get to term healthily, but it just seems these two diagnoses and their treatment plans are working against each other.
20w scan Endocervical Funneling/ Short Cervix
Potential TW? Results of scan, mention of mc
We went for our 20w anatomy scan (at 21w) and my results say 'evidence of endocervical funneling at this time.' Dr. Google was not kind about it and mentioned all kinds of negative outcomes such as early labor, spontaneous late term miscarriage, etc. and also said it is tied to short cervix. My cervix measured 2.7cm with fundal pressure and 2.2cm without and apparently 2.5cm or less is worrisome?
Anyone deal with this at an anatomy scan (or any ultrasound) and have a positive outcome? How worried should I be? I will definitely be reaching out to the OB first thing tomorrow but the, like, 16 hours until the OB opens is a lot of hours when I'm worried about baby.
