Hi all,
I’m on the road pretty much constantly for work (car industry stuff with dealers), so I’m easily doing 8–9 hours driving most days.
I’m also doing a lot of longer trips every week, Scotland, Wales, all over England really. Sometimes I’ll even fly into Scotland or Ireland for work and then drive back down (or the other way around), so I’m covering a fair bit of the UK.
Lately I’ve been trying to make the driving itself a bit more enjoyable instead of just smashing motorways all the time and relying on Waze to get me there fastest.
Problem is:
• Waze just always throws me on the quickest motorway routes
• I end up missing loads of nice scenery and interesting roads
• When I do try and “wing it” I either waste time or end up in awkward detours
So I was wondering how others here do it:
• Do you plan scenic/interesting routes in advance?
• Any good apps for UK driving that aren’t just “fastest route” focused?
• Any tricks with Waze or Google Maps to make routes more interesting without messing things up too much?
• Or do you just learn good roads and stick to those over time?
