Privet hawk moth?

About 18 years ago I found the biggest and brightest caterpillar I'd ever seen and have never seen another since and I wasn't even aware we had things that big in our gardens although I knew hawk moths are large. Then 2 days ago I found this on the floor at work and I'm fairly sure it's the moth so I can complete the set. Either way it was the highlight of my day.

Found on a Orange Stemmed Willow

Hi, found one of these of a Orange Stemmed Willow in the south of the UK today. I was set up to film a watch service for my YouTube channle, so I made a little video of him before putting him back.

What is he?

Hummingbird hawk moth

Captured this guy on my phone the other day when we spotted it whilst out for a walk. Hard enough to get a focused shot of considering how quick they move

Thought you guys would like my almost completely black ladybird (there's a faint hint of a single red spot)

What’s this in the grass ?

Never seen one before, I thought butterfly but it’s smaller so in guessing some kind of moth? It was hiding in the weeds.

Anyone know what came out of this?

I'm thinking it could be a goat moth, but may be too small? Maybe a clearwing? Is there any way to know?!?!

For context, was found out on heathland in South of England. Was sticking out of a sandy bank.

Puss Moth Caterpillar

A really nice find today, the pattern really looks like a shriveled up leaf when looking from afar!

Was cool to learn that the appendages at the bottom are its fake eyes to confuse prey and its head is tucked away at the top.

Everyday is a school day!

Luckily my phone is half decent at capturing the details, half...

I shall look out for an adult one later in the year, as I don't think I've ever seen one.

Enjoy :)

Summer chafer

Today I found a summer chafer in a body of water, it's my first time seeing one, too! It came in for a little dry off and then went back to summer chafer business and wonkily flew off. Gloucestershire for location 😁

I haven't seen a Weevil in quite some time. This little fella was found on the bonnet of my car until I moved him.
