Ladybirds

Are these little ones settling in for the winter season? I get the impression they are so going to have to relocate these flowers carefully!

Dahlias

When would people suggest best to lift dahlias for winter storage?
They’ve never flowered this year I struggled to get them started but are currently still green and want to give them best chance of growing and flowering next year

I’m in Cambridgeshire

Thank you 😊

Beauty

Couldn’t resist a snap of this beauty yesterday, looking a bit battered but one of the last of the year I would think

Sunflower heads

I’ve got sunflower seeds ripening and with how my gardening went this summer I can’t remember which were which. Some I’m happy to keep for next year under the basic giant label but others I’m going to throw away.
Would it cause an issue leaving in local woods or as they aren’t native should I dispose in my garden waste?

Many thanks

Nearly

Nearly trod on this little one when walking the other day, helped him across the path and into the denser vegetation

Peak

Think my sunflower has about reached its peak height as the flower is almost open. A rough measure of about 273 cm (8’11”)

Recommendations

Hi after recommendations for a decent app for basic yoga or somewhere I can find a simple routine for myself just want 5-10 min just to build up my core and flexibility a bit

Also does anyone have any opinions or views on calisthenics? I keep seeing it advertised a lot

Thank you 😊

Hover flies

I’ve always had a few hover flies every summer buzzing in my garden and just seen them as harmless pollinators.

This year in two different spots of a very small garden there’s hundreds of them.

I know very little about them so wondered if someone could tell me if they are social nest builders and what could’ve attracted them in the higher numbers?

I’d rather not google as it’s hard to tell the accuracy some days

Culprit?

Think female hedgehog has been nesting under my lavender bush, saw them pottering only this morning at about 0500, home this evening and spotted this poor little one 😢 any ideas?

Why??

Why do my peonies wait until it’s about to start raining to finally flower? Was hoping for a good display this year

Cutey

Tagged as not safe for work as I know spiders aren’t for everyone but google tells me this is a cucumber spider? Never knew they existed but was definitely impressed with their colouring

Out of interest do people still do this? My lawn gets cut once a week when growing well less so in summer.

I did it last two years but now have no rabbit to enjoy it
