It might be getting a bit chilly but there are still some interesting insects about.

With barely a cloud in the sky it was a lovely autumn day. Picture taken between Pode Hole and Tongue End.

Another Greene King seasonal brew from the '90s.

This was a seasonal ale released in the mid '90s when Greene King was just a regional brewery. I think it might be my oldest beermat for a beer I had.

While out on a walk I saw this large specimen, I just wish I'd put my foot next to it to give some sense of scale. This was seen in South Lincolnshire, UK.

Not many butterflies about now so I was pleased to spot this.

These three Uiltje beers are among five Dutch beer on at the Blind Tiger in Peterborough.

Unless you know about it the Elloe Stone is easy to miss even if you drive along the minor road it stands by. It is thought to mark the place where men of the Elloe Wapentake held their Hundred Court (council)

Common Darters are living up to their name; I've seen a lot this year. Butterflies are distinctly scarcer than last month. There are at least other, less glamorous, insects around.

These sculptures could be seen around Whaplode in 2002 but have either been moved away or, in the case of the wooden ones, naturally decayed. A few others still remain in the village.

It was great to see a few butterflies in the garden; I was starting to think that they'd gone for the year.

This bridge on the A16 just outside Peterborough takes the road over the ancient Car Dyke, hence its official name. In my family it has always been 'Dead Horse Bridge' due to what my brother and his family saw in a nearby field when they first used the new bridge in 2011!

This cute wren is perched on a wall on Fair Isle.

I had this IPA at the Thirsty Giraffe in Deeping St. James... not only is it a cask ale from The Netherlands but it was in a wooden cask... it tasted great.

The Welland in Spalding is looking very green due to floating weed.

This Garden Spider clearly knows where he is meant to be!

A few weeks back there was a good variety of butterflies but today all I saw was a couple of Small Whites. Hopefully when the sun returns there will still be butterflies to see.

We might not have proper woodland but a couple of areas feel like it in a small way. One at the end of Golden Harvest Way, the other by the church yard.
