Currently writing a long ass fic for a fandom whose tag on ao3 hasn't seen an update in months and where the latest fics struggled to reach 20 kudos. I've written fics for this fandom before and they got more engagement than expected, but it's been a couple of years since then. There's a part of me that thinks it's impossible for a long (hopefully decent, at least polished) fic not to get any attention and another part that tells me I'd be delusional to expect more than 2 kudos, let alone any comment.

I'm enjoying writing this story regardless, but I also want to share it with others and each time I post a new work, the reception also influences the way I see it myself. I don't really care about numbers by themselves, I just want at least one engaged reader and I genuinely don't know if I can even get that this time.

I don't know why I'm asking about fellow writers' experience. Maybe I want some hope or maybe I need a reality check lol.
