Trying to find an anime I only saw from a trailer on one of my old VHS tapes from childhood. I don't know if it's a movie or a series. It seemed to be sci-fi/horror with a darker color pallete. Involved people going into a virtual world, eventually getting trapped. The only thing I remember vividly was a small child smiling then his head exploding in the virtual world.

I don't even remember what movie the trailer was on. I didn't even watch horror as a kid so I remember it being a big shock.
