I got the job!

After ~8 months of interviewing, 3 final rounds - I got an offer for a senior job at a large fintech company (product design)! 🎉

I'm so excited! I've been at my current company for ~5 years - have learned a decent amount, but have definitely outgrown it.

My question to the community: I'm a little burnt out. I'm about to give my 2 week notice tomorrow (ah!) and then luckily will have 2 full weeks off ahead of starting my new gig.

What would you do in this time to ~radically rest~? Any advice on routines + how to recharge ahead of starting somewhere new? I'm considering doing a bit of traveling, but also got back from a brief trip abroad in Europe a few weeks ago and don't want to over-extend myself.

Thank you! ❤️

Stay or go?

👋🏼 32F - recently received an offer for a fintech company in a VHCOL city.

I’m a product designer, not engineer. It would be a sizable pay bump (over 100k), but now I’m a starting to have doubts about taking it. I’ve heard so-so things about the WLB at the company (team-dependent), but I feel like the money for 2-3 years (or more?) makes up for that (at least for me).

Current job is “fine” but we had layoffs recently and I’ve been disinterested in the work for a while, with very limited opportunities to switch teams. I feel like my time there has run its course.

Maybe it’s imposter syndrome? I went through a long interview process but I’m still thinking “whaaat how did I manage this?”

I won’t know until I try, right? Growth is growth - at least this is what I’m telling myself as the Sunday scaries are (apparently) eating me alive right now lol.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What helped you make the leap?

Waiting on interview results...

Finished a pretty intense 4 week total interview loop on Monday of this week (with 6 interviews in the final on-site!). The company let me know they'd have an answer and/or next steps for me by this week.

No word yet - and the suspense is killing me! I really, really want this job. How do ya'll distract yourselves? I can barely focus at my current job (haha).

I've started ruminating a bit related to "if I don't get this, I'm simply not good enough" which I know isn't true. Any advice on how to handle those thoughts in this awkward in-between phase? I'm finding myself in a bit of an anxiety spiral ha. ❤️🙏🏼

Weightloss plateau

Haven’t been losing weight and getting reeeeal frustrated lol I’m 5’4” and at 160 lb, and have stalled / gone down then up the last 2 months. I’d love to be 145 by EOY. I weight lift 3-4x a week and get in a lot of walking, usually 1 run a week. Maybe I should try lower carb?

Going back on antidepressants to stay in tech

I tried a 3 month gap off them, but work (the root of most of my stress and crippling anxiety) has made me reconsider. Due to AI and the fast paced nature of everything, I'm deciding to go back on them for my mental health reasons, at least while I'm at this company and in this industry.

A frustrating realization, but one I am working to accept to improve my quality of life. Feeling defeated, but know it's the right call for me right now.

Just posting if anyone else has been feeling similarly. I'm not ready to give up the $$$ just yet, by leaving entirely.

WFH places for Wed + Thurs?

I need somewhere with crispy A/C for most of the day, or at least after 1pm. I’ve got A/C in my 4th floor walkup, but it sometimes isn’t enough!! (Brick building).

Ideas:
- the library
- one of those swanky coffee shops by blue slip
- the hoxton lobby
- ???

Also anyone have a pool I can come to lmk, I’ll $$$ lol 🤣

Any tips for energy levels / fatigue?

32F, 162 lb, 5'4" - GW: 140/145? Depending on muscle recomp.

I've been in a deficit for about 4/5 weeks now (was doing reverse dieting at the beginning of the year - honestly the scale isn't moving that much these days - maybe 3/4 lb down, so slow and steady wins the race. This first picture is my starting point 5ish years ago though - so I've definitely made progress!

The thing is - I have Hypothyroidism and Hashimotos - and damn every time I do a calorie deficit I'm exhaustedddd! Like, don't wanna do anything, brain fog at work exhausted ha.

I attached some calories / macro breakdowns here (I'm working w/ a trainer & nutritionalist). I aim for 1650/1700 + I weight train 3/4x a week for 45 min at most, maybe 1 run a week (5K) where I eat a higher calorie amount for that day.

Edit: Sheet shows protein, carb, fat, fiber amounts~

However! I'm still so incredibly fatigued. Does anyone have tips for this? Maybe get my Iron tested? Improper hydration? Even though I use electrolyte powders (Drip drop). Just being a woman in my 30s? lol. I'm stumped, but it's really affecting this deficit period and making it feel harder than usual.

Manager is making me send her my slack messages before I send them in group messages

So random, just needed to put this somewhere.

I'm cracking up, she wants to approve that. THAT is micro-managing to it's finest. My last manager was basically non-existent.

Forever deleting “Blind”

Posted a few days ago about taking a sabbatical, asking for advice (esp in this weird market + now with AI)

I’m 32F, single, 250k TC, 500k NW, 9 YOE

Nearly everyone on there saying 500k NW is super low.

The men on there need to get off the internet an touch grass lol. I seemingly do too lol that’s crazy. They’re so oblivious to 95% of the rest of the world 😭 so I’m deleting it and not looking back.
