Just wanted to share hope

3-4 months ago I was in a horrible place. Couldn't go anywhere without goggles and drops and it was so miserable. Fast forward to now and I can actually get through the day mostly without drops, except for Cequa.

What I did: IPL w/lipiflow June with lacrimal punctal plugs, cequa July. Bumped up my HRT in July too, but I dont know how much of this improvement is due to that, because it happened the same time as cequa.

Im currently getting fitted for sclerals (threw out my soft contacts for good) and will probably do a repeat IPL/low level red light treatment.

All this to say, I've improved more than I had hoped and wanted to let others know it can get better. I'm not 100%, but life isnt as miserable as it was. 🤞🏻

Keep fighting the good fight! And I hope it gets better for others ❤️

Positive IgE numbers?

Im new diagnosed, Mixed Dry Eye and just got my blood results back. No autoimmunity but positive IgE numbers. I know this means there is some sort of allergic component, but Im not sure what to do about this. My doctor said that allergy drops are ok and artificial tears can help wash out irritants. Im scheduled for IPL and LipiFlow for the first time tomorrow

This current flare has been more most severe one Ive ever had. It started 3 weeks ago during a trip to Las Vegas, and looking back, there was a lot of smoke in the hotel as well as the dry weather and hotel AC. Up until then, my dry eyes have been manageable with heat and some drops and I could still wear contacts and makeup from time to time. Could the smoke have been the initial trigger? I subsequently had travel and the plane flights seem to have magnified this flare.

TLDR what have you done regarding positive IgE numbers? Everything else on my bloodwork was normal. Newly diagnosed Mixed Dry Eye, IPL and LipiFlow scheduled for tomorrow.

Thank you!

Itchy, swollen, redness, and traveling

Im currently traveling and my eyes have been just going crazy. I no longer know if its dry eye or something else. Itchy, gritty, swelling...Im on a bunch of lubricating drops and ointment. I have moisture chambers. Some things work for a few hours, others done. But the itching has been crazy, especially in the corners and lid margins. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. Trying to find a local doctor but not sure what is going on.

Menopause and dry eyes: what worked?

I'm 45, perimenopausal (no cycle for 6 months) and my eyes have consistently gotten more unbearable. I am on HRT (estrodial patch + progesterone for the last year, added topical testosterone in March). During my last eye checkup in March, my opthamologist said I looked ok and that my glands were ok. However, I am consistently getting more grit in my eyes, even with drops, heat, moisture chamber...everything.

I would like to know what others have done during menopause for dry eyes. I had mild dry eyes years ago, but then was ok for 7 years after cutting out gluten. I have been gluten free again for the past 2 months to see if it is gluten related, but in the meantime, please share success stories during menopause. I just feel so defeated and tired at this point. TIA
