Does unpaid trials that involve serving customers/pouring beers invalidate 90 day trial?

16th of Jan i completed a 3 hour unpaid trial, which essentially consisted of me pouring beers for customers. Upon completion I was accepted, sent my contract which i signed, and started full time work around the 23rd jan.

-Almost- 3 months later (14th april) my boss called me in, stated I was still on 90 day trial, and as a result of my performance, he was firing me on the spot.

Though since my trial constituted work, does that negate 90 day trial? If so, where can I go from here.

Masters application and pertaining

I’m almost halfway through my honours year studying BhSc, and fully intend to apply for Counselling psychology masters programs across NZ and Australian unis (and probably clinical but I don’t have much hope here).

I understand the course is very competitive, and besides working hard to bump my GPA, I have my diss and another research opportunity I’m working on. However I have zero work experience, I have lots of previous experience in hospitality, but nothing off healthcare practice.

Where should i be looking for experience before i finish honours and go apply for masters? What’s the best course of action? any other suggestions to increase my chances for acceptance?

Any insight would be much appreciated
