Bought new almost 30 years ago. Still plays like a dream

This is a Gibson CL-20 Standard Plus bought in 1997. That year they made a version with laminated back as well, but this one is all solid wood top, back, and sides. I think I laid $1100 then. This thing has always played like a dream.

I grew up around stores that had Taylor, Martin, Guilds more so than Gibsons, and I remember driving pretty far to get this one and the first strum I made and I knew this was the one I wanted.

A precursor to the Songbird and Songwriter series I think these CL series were only made for a short period of time.

Samick ILF Limb rating discrepancy question

I have been reading up on ILF equipment and had read a lot of people's experiences with Samick Limbs coming in high, especially on non-Samick risers.

I had a 32 lb Samick Extreme-C coming in from overseas and realized I probably went too high, and got a 26 lb Samick Ideal pair of limbs from Ebay to hold my daughter over until she can grow into the 32 lb ones. These are all rated at 66".

However, now that I have had a chance to test the actual draw weight at the standard AMO 28" length, I am very surprised at the results. I have a pretty nice crane scale and trust its consistency and my measurement technique.

With the Kinetic Novius riser with tillers backed out to its maximum (4 full turns):

  • Samick Ideal 26 lb comes in at just under 27 lbs.
  • Samick Extreme-C 32 lb comes in right at 29 lbs

With the tiller all the way, the Samick Ideal gets to about 30 lbs and the Extreme-C goes just under 34 lbs.

For people with more limb buying experience, is this type of variance typical? It makes it seem very hard to purchase limbs knowing what you will get. For instance, the Extreme-C's seem to be what I was hoping for (can get a bit under or a bit over with tiller adjustment). But the Ideal's were impossible to even get the 26 lb rated weight. As such, I wish I bought the 24's for my daughter. But the Ebay seller I bought from offers no returns for these, and I just assume I have to live with what I get with this type of stuff. But the fact that the 32's came in pretty true to weight, even with a Kinetic riser makes me feel like it's really hard to anticipate what I'll get.

I am really enjoying v15 features, and currently have PostgreSQL setup for query logging. It is working great. But during a Proxmox restart, the Technitium instance was up before the PostgreSQL instance. It turns out that once it saw it offline, it didn't attempt to try again. I didn't notice it until I saw the logs not capturing the latest queries for about a day.

I have since fixed the Proxmox startup order, but wanted to see if the behavior was as expected?

Thank you!
