New prescription after reaching a healthy BMI?
Hi everyone!
I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life. At different points I’ve been quite obese, lost more than 40 kg, regained the weight and then lost it again.
At the end of 2023, when I was back at the lower end of the obese BMI range, I started Saxenda through HubHealth. I was on it for about a year before switching to Wegovy, which I continued until June last year.
I would have preferred to stay on a low maintenance dose, but because of the cost I needed to stop the medication. I managed to maintain my weight for quite a while, but since the beginning of this year I’ve slowly started gaining again.
I’m still currently at a healthy weight for my height, but given my history, I’m concerned that the weight gain will continue.
I’ve been looking at going back on Wegovy, but HubHealth seems more expensive than some other providers. From what I can see, most online services also require you to currently have an overweight or obese BMI to qualify. I don’t have a regular GP either.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and been able to get a prescription for Wegovy again while still at a healthy BMI, particularly for maintenance or to prevent further weight regain?
I’d prefer to use a telehealth service that can provide the prescription and let me pick the medication up from a pharmacy myself, rather than paying extra to have it supplied and shipped through the telehealth provider like with HubHealth
I would really appreciate hearing what others in a similar situation have done!
