Hello and good morning SITizens,
I would like to remind everyone here to exercise caution when responding to invitations for meetups, networking sessions, mentorship programmes, workshops, or other events posted on this subreddit.
This is an unofficial subreddit for SIT. While many community events are genuine and well-intentioned, there are also occasions where events may:
- Have vague descriptions or unclear organisers
- Omit important information such as the host, venue, or purpose
- Require sign-ups through external forms with little context
- Advertise themselves as general student networking or mentorship events
- Be targeted at students from multiple universities rather than SIT specifically
Before attending any event, we encourage everyone to:
- Verify who is organising it (check if it is by an SIT club)
- Check whether the organisation has an official website or social media presence
- Ask questions if important details are missing
- Be cautious about sharing personal information through external forms
- If meeting strangers, choose public venues and let someone know where you're going
If a post appears suspicious, lacks transparency, or seems misleading, please do not hesitate to report it to us. The mod team will review them as quickly as possible.
Our goal is not to discourage students from attending such events. We want to ensure that members can make informed decisions and that r/SIT_Singapore remains a safe and trustworthy resource for all students.
