I am considering getting a chimney starter for a 22”Kettle located on a wood deck. The YouTube videos I see show massive sparks going everywhere when the lit charcoal is poured from the chimney…is that normal and this is a big fire hazard for a wood deck? The alternative is a MAP torch or fire starters and a lighter.

I have a Big Green Egg but am considering adding a Kettle…the idea being to use the Kettle for burgers and generally as another surface area / temperature zone. I’d use lump charcoal (already have it + maybe it’s healthier?). Does anyone have both a Kettle and an Egg and does this combo make sense?
