TorBox v9.2 just dropped — probably one of the best times to switch

If you've been thinking about trying TorBox or moving away from your current debrid service, the new v9.2 update makes this a pretty good time to do it.

TorBox has been improving steadily, but v9.2 focuses on something that matters much more than adding flashy new features: speed, reliability and the underlying infrastructure.

🚀 More than 30% CDN performance improvement

According to TorBox, its CDN received a 30%+ performance increase, covering:

  • single-connection speeds
  • multi-connection speeds
  • ramp-up speed
  • seeking
  • TTFB / how quickly a download or stream starts

So this isn't just about higher theoretical download speeds — it should also mean faster starts and quicker seeking during playback.

🎬 Better video compatibility

They've also changed how files are handled to improve compatibility with video players and reduce cases where certain files would simply sit there loading forever.

For anyone mainly using TorBox for media, that's arguably one of the more important improvements in this release.

⚡ Faster web downloads

Several download sources also received substantial improvements:

  • Telegram: up to 3× faster
  • Mega: more than 4× faster
  • improved reliability for YouTube and HubDrive
  • Katfile, Fileq, Sharemods, MegaUp, DailyUploads and Buzzheavier fixed/re-enabled
  • Discord CDN downloading added

The Telegram and Discord bots can now also accept files directly — just send or forward a file and it can be added to your TorBox account.

🛠️ Faster API

TorBox also optimized authenticated API calls, cutting roughly 20 ms from certain requests, with multiple optimizations able to stack together.

That might sound minor, but when third-party apps are making lots of API requests, small improvements like this can add up.

🎁 And v9.2 made referrals easier

There's also a nice change for new users: when you sign up using a referral code, the code is now automatically attached to your account during registration.

If you're signing up anyway, using a referral makes sense because you get 7 additional days for every month you purchase on your first purchase.

For example:

  • 1 month → +7 days
  • 3 months → +21 days
  • 6 months → +42 days
  • 12 months → +84 days

I receive the same amount of bonus time, so full disclosure: it benefits both of us.

Why switch now?

TorBox is clearly putting a lot of work into the infrastructure behind the service. v9.2 isn't just another UI update — faster CDN performance, better seeking/start times, improved player compatibility, faster web downloads and API optimizations directly affect the everyday experience.

So if you've been waiting to give TorBox a try, v9.2 is a very good point to jump in.

And as always: if you need help setting up TorBox or figuring out how to integrate it into your existing setup, feel free to comment or DM me. I'm happy to help with general setup questions, different TorBox plans, Usenet, or getting things working with your existing media setup.

Follow-up: TorBox update, fair use changes, and I’m still happy to help with setup

Hey everyone,

I posted recently about TorBox as an alternative/addition to Real-Debrid, especially for Stremio users (previous post ). Since a few things have changed, I wanted to post a quick follow-up and also remind people that I’m happy to help if anyone has questions.

Important TorBox changes

First, the official TorBox Stremio addon and the Tinfoil service have been disabled and are no longer accessible. TorBox also changed the Search API, which is now whitelisted to specific IP ranges submitted by developers, so it is no longer publicly accessible.

That means: if you were using the official TorBox Stremio addon directly, you will need to look for another setup or alternative integration. For many Stremio users, using TorBox through a supported third-party setup may still be the better route, depending on what you are trying to do.

Fair Use Policy update

The other major change is that cached transfers now count toward total usage.

Previously, cached transfers did not count toward the usage threshold. Now, outgoing transfers from TorBox to your device count too, which means streaming counts as bandwidth usage.

That sounds scary at first, but for normal users the limits are still very high:

  • Essential: 10 TB/month
  • Standard: 20 TB/month
  • Pro: 30 TB/month

To put that into perspective: even on the Essential plan, 10 TB is a huge amount of data for a normal user. If you watch 20 GB files, that is roughly 500 full files per month. Even with very large files, most regular users probably will not come close to the limit.

TorBox has also added a new bandwidth graph in the user account menu, showing your last 30 days of usage, so you can monitor it yourself.

One important point: there are currently mixed user reports about how bandwidth is counted. Some users claim only the actually streamed amount is counted, while others say the full torrent/file size may be counted after starting playback. Since usage stats do not seem to update in real time, this needs more testing. I think users should push TorBox for clear, accurate, actual-usage-based bandwidth counting.

If you download uncached torrents and do not care about seeding, you may also want to check this setting:

Settings → Website → Default Seed Torrents → Never

That can help avoid unnecessary outgoing usage from seeding, unless you specifically need seeding for private trackers or ratio purposes.

My current view

I still think TorBox can be useful, especially as:

  • a Real-Debrid alternative,
  • a backup provider,
  • an additional source for Stremio setups,
  • a service with Usenet support,
  • and a flexible option for people who want more than a classic debrid setup.

But I would not oversell it as “perfect.” The recent changes are important, and people should understand them before subscribing.

Happy to help

If anyone is confused about the changes, setup options, AIOStreams, Stremio configuration, TorBox plans, or Usenet access, feel free to ask. I’m happy to help and answer questions where I can.

I can also help people understand what they need for Usenet, how it works together with TorBox, and whether it even makes sense for their use case.

Full disclosure: this is my referral link/code. If you use it when subscribing, you should get the referral bonus, and I also receive extra time on my account.

Switched from Real-Debrid to TorBox — here’s why it might be worth trying

Hey everyone,

With more people looking at alternatives to RD lately, I recently started using TorBox and wanted to share my experience.

What I like about it so far:

  • All-in-one setup: TorBox supports torrents, web downloads/debrid, high-speed downloads, queued downloads, RSS scheduled torrents, and even Usenet on higher plans.
  • Good integrations: WebDAV, API access, Stremio addon support, Discord/Telegram bots, and notification options make it pretty flexible.
  • No single-IP/device lock-in: Useful if you switch between home, mobile, VPN, or multiple devices.
  • Modern interface: The website feels clean and straightforward compared with some older debrid-style services.
  • Free plan available: You can try the service before committing to a paid plan.
  • Referral bonus: If you use a referral link and buy a plan, TorBox adds extra time to your subscription — currently 7 extra days per purchased month.

I’m also happy to help if anyone has questions about TorBox, the setup, or whether it fits their use case.
If you’re interested in using TorBox with Usenet, I can also help with getting started and understanding what you need for Usenet access.

Full disclosure: this is my referral link. If you use it, you get the extra subscription time, and I also receive extra time on my account:

Or use this code: e535017e-8a59-48f0-b2db-a2fdd8396a07

Worth checking out if you’re currently comparing Real-Debrid alternatives or want something with strong Stremio/WebDAV/API/Usenet support.

Moin! Ich habe viel über die peruanische Küche gelesen und gesehen. Nun würde ich es doch gerne mal ausprobieren. Habt ihr Empfehlungen, welches peruanische Restaurant bei uns in Hamburg was taugt?
