Any alternative to Lepton?

Is it me or new Firefox's Nova design looks like a spyware garbage?

I hate it, i hope they retire this as soon as possible.

Good sports game to play with friends and family?

Summer is coming and i'm planning to reuse my Wii just like last year, i was wondering if there was a nice game other than Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Play Motion to play with friends and family, is there a good one, possibly translated in italian?

All roads lead to Firefox (At least for me)

Why i say this? for the third time, i'm slowly going back to Firefox, everything started 6 years ago when i was using Chrome like a normie and Firefox has been the first browser i've used to replace it, then i moved to Edge for 3 years and i switched to Nightly but after like a year i got back to stable Firefox because updates were really annoying, then i moved to Floorp, after 2 years on Waterfox and right now i'm going back again on Firefox, also i didn't specified that on VMs and in general secondary devices/installations Firefox was always there, thanks Firefox for being in my life since i discovered you ❤️.

Is Debian Testing equal to Fedora with updates?

Found out now about Kiwi browser's death and i can say finally.

I've used Kiwi for 6 months, when Chrome extensions on mobile were a far dream, finally, we can use the fuck we want without worrying, Kiwi was terrible, slow updates sometimes, horrible toolbar icons and as i heard it was a spyware too, so i surrended on using uBlock Origin on mobile with good performance and i started using Via Browser, the fastest browser on Android based out of Webview, unfortunately someone suspects of spyware even there and in the meanwhile i discovered Waterfox again, i was using it already on desktop because it is stable and fast (i'm going back to Firefox probably for other reasons) and so i moved on mobile like a month ago because it's again fast and stable, supports basically the same Firefox's catalog of extensions and i wanted more sync between my Windows, Android and Fedora devices, so if there is someone still looking for an alternative, Waterfox is a nice project to give a try.

Even if it is a bit a good news about the death of Kiwi Browser, R.I.P. because you showed to the world that extensions on Chromium for Android were possible

3 months with Waterfox, awesome, but.... my brain loves hopping and i'm thinking about going back to Firefox again, because yeah..... there some little things that i don't like that much:

Slower, but not incredibly slower: Firefox feels smooth on everything, even on my laptop with 4GB DDR4 i'm using to write this with Fedora 44 KDE.

Firefox ESR based, not Firefox Stable: Annoying, i know security patches are always there but i like the new Firefox UI and also having the new features like split view

Compatibility: Waterfox has a complete support for my main OS (Windows 11 25H2), even on winget, but on GNU/Linux, there is nothing other than tarball and flatpak, Firefox is even on FreeBSD.

Strange bugs: On Reddit if i select things, the tab freezes and also for some reason HEVC videos have lag spikes especially on TikTok.

I'm not that sure, but, i'm considering it, Waterfox can't change for me, i have to change browser again... but yeah this is the fourth time i switch to Firefox, but also don't get me wrong, i like basically most of the Waterfox features like the integrated Firefox UI Fix themes and no AI anywhere, on Firefox you can just disable whole AI with a toggle but yeah this is a good compromise.

BTW, different situation on Android, i love it, even follows Firefox Stable, the only con is theme customization.

i personally use ublock, but browsers like Waterfox are testing an integrated adblocker like Brave, why i should prefer an integrated adblocker instead of ublock?

I have been using Ubuntu LTS for years for my mc servers, but i'm trying in these days FreeBSD on my old laptop, still really a noob in many things (even on Linux but shhh....), Netflix uses FreeBSD for its servers, PS4's OS is based on FreeBSD, basically i read that they choose it over Linux for networking stack, is it a good idea for mc servers or GNU/Linux is still the best choose?

Firefox left support for Windows Vista back in 2017 and also for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 back in 2023, today, you can have the latest Firefox version on these outdated OSes without things like the Extended Kernel or VxKex, this fork of Firefox is called Eclipse r3dfox, not only supports old Windows versions but also does this:

  • New default theme and color scheme!
  • More native and native like elements, scrollbar, checkboxes, radio buttons, tooltips, and more!
  • Windows theme version override, ability to use modern (Windows 10) theme on any OS, or enable (Windows 7) Aero theme on Windows 10!
  • Full portable mode that doesn't touch AppData at all!
  • Switchable Classic about:config page!
  • Less telemetry than regular Firefox!
  • No background tasks!
  • Easier to notice red retry button for failed downloads!
  • JPEG XL support!
  • GPU/hardware acceleration in VMware Workstation 16 and above!
  • general.useragent.override.(website) is back!
  • Instant one off searches and classic one off search UI!
  • Ability to restore classic right click menu items such as view image and text navigation buttons!
  • Ability to disable CSP, CORS, HSTS, and SOP!
  • Experimental (and kinda broken) ability to disable e10s (multiprocess), Skia, and DirectWrite!
  • Other options including the ability to easily disable geolocation, Web Audio, tab groups, screenshot component, tab hover preview, drop to pin tabs, add tab to taskbar button, urlbar foratting, switch to tab behavior, and more!

Let's start installing r3dfox:

⚠️ WARNING: Windows XP is not officially supported, maybe can work with OneCoreAPI but also this method couldn't be enough.

  1. If you are on Windows Vista, please install Service Pack 2 and KB971644 Platform Update, else it won't start or just crashes, if you are at least on Windows 7 RTM you can just skip this step.
  2. Download from here the latest release and installer for your right architecture.
  3. Run the installer.

Now, you have r3dfox installed and ready to use, if you find it horrible to use, you can touch the settings to make it identical to Firefox easily.

Pale Moon is a working browser, but its rendering engine is very often incompatible with many modern websites, which means that you have to switch to another browser, well... maybe you won’t have to do that anymore because there is an extension made by a known Windows modder named Tech Stuff for opening some websites using CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) or Internet Explorer inside Pale Moon called SubWebView, not all versions work on every OS, the standard version doesn't work on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, but maybe should work on MacOS, GNU/Linux and FreeBSD if you have an up-to-date OS. Let's start:

>⚠️ WARNING: This extension is not compatible with Basilisk and also is not safe and fast as a standard Chromium-based browser, whatever you do by following this guide is at YOUR OWN RISK.

  1. Go into this page and scroll until you see SubWebView, double click on the first .xpi file, but if you have Windows 7/8.x double click on the second .xpi, as for right now is that one that ends with -cef109.xpi.
  2. It should start downloading the extension, if a warning appears about the extension being downloaded from unauthorized source click Install now.
  3. Restart Pale Moon.
  4. Go to about:addons and click the Options button under SubWebView.
  5. On Pattern text box put a domain and select what engine should handle it. (Remember: there is always an empty pattern, it refers to global settings, so if you still want to use Goanna select Standard as the engine).

If you did everything correctly, you can now use Pale Moon on websites where Goanna has issues.

Firefox is becoming bloated, starting from AI, with this guide you should be able to make your experience way better than now by disabling unwanted features and making the UI look and feel more decorated (the last one is optional), should work on every desktop OS (Windows, MacOS, GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD etc.....). Let's start:

>⚠️ WARNING: This guide has been made for Firefox Stable, it probably won't work on Firefox ESR, but probably should work on r3dfox and Floorp, whatever you do by following this guide is at YOUR OWN RISK so ensure you have something like a backup of your Firefox profile.

  1. Go into this page, right click and click Save Page As..., save it as user.js.
  2. Next, reach about:profiles and click Open Directory, next to Root Directory in the right profile you want to edit, the profile folder should open and you should paste the user.js downloaded before right there.
  3. Now, go to about:config and search for identity.fxaccounts.toolbar.pxiToolbarEnabled then change to false identity.fxaccounts.toolbar.pxiToolbarEnabled.monitorEnabled, identity.fxaccounts.toolbar.pxiToolbarEnabled.relayEnabled and identity.fxaccounts.toolbar.pxiToolbarEnabled.vpnEnabled.
  4. Restart Firefox.

YOUR FIREFOX SHOULD BE DEBLOATED, THE NEXT STEPS ARE JUST FOR UI LOOK AND FEEL, SO OPTIONAL

  1. Go into this page, download only one of the last three from the latest release, extract the archive and copy the chrome folder and paste it into your profile directory like you did before.
  2. Open both user.js already in your profile directory and the one into the extracted archive, copy everything from the user.js of the extracted archive, next make a new line without deleting anything on the other user.js and paste, save.
  3. Restart Firefox.

If everything was done perfectly, you should have a better Firefox experience, similar to Waterfox.

I'll start: I use Waterfox because Firefox feels a bit bloated with things like Pocket and AI, this why i use this browser on both Windows, Fedora and Android now, One thing i don't like is that it follows Firefox ESR's updates but at least we get the security updates.
