I own a limited edition black Wii, with the box and everything still in its packaging. I was wondering if it was worth reliving Wii Sports and other Wii games or selling it. The box is damaged and doesn't have the original tape but like I stated everything is still in the original packaging.
It seems like someone tried to repair the missing feet of this Wii with some kind of putty and it's melted over time into this disgusting goop? It smears and sticks to everything it touches. All eight holes where the feet pads should be are filled with it. Any suggestions?
I remember back in the day, a lot of people felt the Nintendo Wii was dated upon it's release. And in terms of graphics it was quite behind the PS3 and Xbox 360 at the time. However many years later I don't feel the need to pick up a used Xbox 360 or PS3. The games that were produced on these consoles were excellent, but nearly all of the essential experiences on these systems have gotten a remaster or re-release on newer hardware. This applies not only to the PS3 and Xbox 360 but also to the Xbox and PS1 / PS2 as well. There are still titles locked on some of these systems, but most games have a remaster or remake that you can play on modern hardware. On top of that, systems have become more backwards compatible in recent years.
The Wii however still manages to have unique experiences that just aren't easy to port over to modern hardware. Several Wii games have been ported to the switch, but games like Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports just don't feel the same without the Wii remotes. The joy cons work, but lack the weight and grip the Wii remote and nunchuck had. Light rail shooters like House of the Dead just don't play as well on other consoles outside of playing in an actual arcade. Party games / co-op games are easy to pickup due to the intuitive control of the Wii remote.
Aside from controls, there are a couple of game series that feel uniquely special on the Wii for gameplay mechanics. There are modern iterations of Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart, but the Wii versions just hit different. Mario Kart Wii has a special flavor of chaos in it's physics engine and mechanics that feels toned down in Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl has a special place in my heart for it's story mode.
I feel like many Wii experiences will have longevity because they can never be fully replicated on modern hardware short of recreating the Wii remote, which requires more than just emulating these motion controls on tiny joycon controllers. For better or worse, most console experiences these days are pretty homogenized due to standardized control schemes. If Nintendo Switch Online ever were to add the Wii to their Nintendo classics list, I hope effort will be put into releasing a new Wii remote controller.

Found out one of my sports game grails is still available for purchase new on Amazon. I’m still trying to go all pro in dog football and there hasn’t been another game like it to scratch my competitive itch.. bark bark woof woof and all that.
I just find it so hilariously odd and charming, that a game Wii game is still available for purchase new in 2026. But the story behind this quirky game is kinda interesting. Turns out the developers themselves still have an EBay store open selling signed copies and even games by the case if you wanna drop ship and sell some dog football of your own… wild times but even kinda respectable if you are still hustling on a Wii game made in 2011.
This is why the Wii is one of the best consoles ever created fun times with friends and loved ones can’t beat it especially when high ☠️
My Wii was completely functional then one day, it stopped showing any signal. I’ve tried turning it off/on again, same with the TV. I replaced the AV cables to make sure it wasn’t faulty wiring. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Im hopefully going to get two more games but soon, Madworld and The Last Story, heard both are under rated gems for the Wii!
I just picked up this Wii tower and I love it so much, it is there a place to get a replacement piece for the guitar hero holder in the side? If not it’s all good but I was just curious
Been seeing allot of gameplays on fb and Reddit, and it made me start itching to play. So I decided to tackle my storage room and find the Wii. Of course the system was easy to find, then had to find all the cords. 🤣
