Feature Request: Split "Ready to Budget" to distinguish between Salary and Savings

Following up on a previous request regarding tracking account balances to budget categories, I have started keeping my savings accounts "on-budget."

While this approach is helpful, I’ve run into a friction point: the total "Ready to Budget" amount lumps all of my funds together. Currently, it doesn't differentiate between my actual working capital (e.g., my recent salary) and the funds that are sitting in my savings accounts which are for irregular payments.

Proposed Solution: It would be incredibly useful if the main unassigned pool could be visually broken down into two distinct sub-categories:

  • Ready to Budget: For regular salary and everyday cash flow.
  • Savings Pot (or similar): For funds that are on-budget but physically reside in a savings account.

This separation would make it much easier to allocate funds without accidentally budgeting money that is meant to stay in savings.

EDIT: The request is more to get a visual total of the Ready to Assign vs already allocated total amount in Savings pot that is "On Budget"

[Feature Request] Ability to link Tracking Account balances to Budget Categories?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been loving Zerosum in the last few days since moving over from YNAB, but I wanted to see if anyone else uses my specific workflow, and if the devs have any plans to support it better in the future.

My Use Case:

When I’m saving up for a longer-term goal (like a vacation or a new car), I prefer not to leave the money sitting in a standard budget category rolling over month to month. Instead, my preferred approach is to transfer those funds completely out of my on-budget accounts and into an off-budget Tracking Account (usually a high-yield savings account).

The Issue:

Because I transfer the money out, the category itself shows up as "spent" or empty, even though that money is safely tucked away in my tracking account. It makes it a bit tricky to see my actual progress toward that specific category's goal at a glance from the main budget screen.

My Question:

Are there any future plans to allow us to "link" a Tracking Account (or a portion of its balance) directly to a Budget Category? It would be amazing to transfer the money out, but still have the category display the available funds sitting in the linked tracking account.

Does anyone else manage their sinking funds this way? Would love to hear your thoughts or current workarounds!
