ADVENT has tons of these, so I made my own. Painting an ADVENT MEC!

After living in my pile of shame for a year, I finally finished painting my printed ADVENT MEC. This was kind of challenging and probably not my favorite thing to paint so far, but in the end it turned out fine. On to the next one!

3D Printed and painted a muton!

Finally got around to paint the Muton I made and printed last year. Not as satisfied as the previous figures I made but it was fun enough. Painting probably took me an hour or two a day for 2-3 weeks. I would probably improve the pose and do Catmull-Clarke for the subdivision surface next time. I still have a few more figures in the works to paint in the next few months. Suggestions?

Mectoid: Printed, Painted, Online!

Finally finished painting the Mectoid I printed out a few months ago. The in-game gray color schemes for the mectoid were so annoying to paint, and I'm not that happy with the purple that I used as a final result, but that's the best I could do.

I first primed the model in black, then drybrushed silver all over it. My failed prints served as testbeds for the color schemes schemes. Glazed several different purples until I found a few which worked decently together with the gunmetal and steel gray. Took some liberties with the color schemes since the in-game models rely heavily on shading and specular highlights. Panel lined the sections with a black oil wash, varnished, then painted the glowy lights either neon green or orange. Overall I learned quite a bit painting this, but it could be significantly better. The 28mm versions I am still playing around with, but this one can hang out with the XCOM2 stuff I've made.

This isn't Modiphius' model, but one I figured out how to make from the XCOM:EW game assets. I'm actually excited to see what they will be launching for the game, since the fallout wasteland warfare minis are pretty good. I'll be buying their game when it's out and comparing them to what I made. At least I'll have a head start :)

Tune in later for the next model to paint. I kind of want to do EW floaters, but I have a few X2 models already printed out. Any suggestions?
