My weight loss journey is finally complete. From 265 lbs to 165 lbs
I hit my highest weight of 265 lbs back in 2013. A couple weeks ago, I hit 160 lbs and decided it was time to stop taking Zepbound.
The part of that story that probably matters most is that I didn’t lose all 105 lbs on Zepbound. I had gotten myself down to around 220 before starting it, but it took me until 2025 to get there.
For years I was stuck in basically the same cycle. I’d get motivated in the spring, lose 10-15 lbs, then life and summer would happen. I’d maintain for a while, gain 5-10 lbs back over the winter, and start the whole thing over again the next year.
I was making progress, but it was incredibly slow.
When I finally started Zepbound, things changed pretty dramatically.
I tracked my calories and aimed for around 1,700 calories and 200 grams of protein per day. I rarely managed to perfectly hit both of those numbers, but I usually got pretty close.
I also exercised every day. Most days that meant about 20 minutes of lifting weights, at least a mile of walking, and a 3-mile run.
With that combination, I pretty consistently lost around 2 lbs per week.
I ended up taking Zepbound for about 9 months total, going from roughly 220 lbs to 160 lbs.
Obviously the medication didn’t do the work for me. I still had to track what I ate, prioritize protein, exercise, and stay consistent. But Zepbound made doing those things feel possible in a way that they never really had before. I wasn’t constantly fighting hunger and thinking about food all day.
Going on Zepbound was genuinely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
It’s pretty crazy looking back at old pictures and realizing that the person in them was me. I spent so many years thinking I was going to eventually figure out how to lose the weight for good, and for the first time I actually feel like I did.
Now the next challenge is figuring out maintenance and making sure this is something I can sustain long term.
