help needed: choosing my chinese name
Hi everyone! I've recently started to learn Chinese and I've realised I need a Chinese name to go by. I've researched some common names and surnames and picked two options:
- 馮若曦 (Féng Ruòxī)
- 馮 映晴 (Féng Yìngqíng)
I'm a woman and I picked these based on the meaning of the characters, but I'm not sure how it would sound to a Chinese speaker. I wanted a name that reflected something like "warmth" / "clear skies" / "journeying" (that's the vibe I was going for) + I really like the way the surname Féng (馮) sounds phonetically, as well.
My original names' meanings are: "born on Christmas Day" (first name, Latin origin), "someone who lives near a river, a body of water" (last name, Dutch origin). Should I transfer those meanings to my Chinese name, as well?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
