Meredith Festival

Anyone else from NSW always wanted to go to Meredith but never made it happen?

It honestly feels like one of the hardest Australian festivals to get to from interstate, flights or driving, camping gear, organising transport from Melbourne, ticket ballot stress etc. But every year everyone comes back saying it’s one of the best festival experiences in Australia.

The whole BYO setup, one stage, no sponsors everywhere and the no dickhead policy makes it feel completely different to most festivals now.

Never been before but really want to finally make the trip this year.

Who do you reckon plays Meredith this year? Keen to hear people’s predictions/mock lineups.

Throwback: Cancelled Vintage Vibes Lineup 2024

This festivaL would have been banging if it had been on. The lineup seemed like such a great vibe overall.

And it was meant to be in SA, which doesn't get as many events as the East Coast.

Thoughts?

If a festival like this in Jan ever came back, who would you book to be on it?

Throwback (Cancelled Groovin' In the Moo: 2024)

Can we genuinely discuss how this pretty solid 8/10 was deemed within 7 days to not have sold enough tickets? A lot of acts are playing major venues around the country these days.

This festival would have been great if it had gone ahead.

Planing a new live event

Hey everyone,

As I have mentioned previously I’m currently putting together a small live music event at the The Lord Gladstone this July.

The idea is to create a solid night for emerging and local artists in from Aus/Sydney. The venue is locked in already (around 100–150 cap), and I’m currently looking for a headline act plus a couple of supports — around 3 acts total.

I’m really interested in getting into live events and music promotion long term, so this is something I’m taking seriously and hoping to keep building into future events as well.

If you’re in a band, know artists that might fit, or have experience running local gigs, feel free to comment or send me a message. Mainly looking in the indie/alternative/post-punk/psych space but open to different sounds especially if your jazz/funk.

Would love to connect with people in the Sydney scene.

Groovin in the Moo (2027 Mock)

Seeing Groovin the Moo, even in a reduced format, come back swinging in Lismore this year was so good to see.

This would be my dream lineup for a full-scale 2027 edition, something a little closer to what we were used to in previous years.

Thoughts?

EMPIRE OF THE SUN • TEDDY SWIMS (US)
ISAIAH RASHAD (US) • GROOVE ARMADA (UK)
FOSTER THE PEOPLE (US) • KNEECAP (IRE) • TASH SULTANA
THE RIONS • BELLA KAY (US) • PLAYLUNCH • DIZZEE RASCAL (UK)
VANESSA CARLTON (US) • 2CHARM • GLASS BEAMS
WINSTON SURFSHIRT • DEAN TURNLEY • LANE PITTMAN
LOGIC1000 • DUST. • LEISURE (NZ)
KEO (UK) • DRIFTING CLOUDS • MEL BLUE • PAWPAW ROD (US)
MULGA BORE HARD ROCK • MARIAE CASSANDRA
BARLEY PASSABLE • LIQUID ZOO • MEDIA PUZZLE
DISCOVERY: DAFT PUNK TRIBUTE

+ A homegrown local act in every city

Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Who would you want to see on a future Groovin the Moo lineup?

If you’re going to VIVID this year, don’t sleep on this one.

White Bay Power Station is getting taken over on Friday, June 12, for Art After Dark: Last Light — basically a full-on late-night street party inside one of Sydney’s most iconic industrial buildings.

They’re closing the road and turning the whole place into a mix of:

  • live music
  • DJs
  • contemporary art (final night of the Biennale of Sydney exhibition)
  • food trucks + bars
  • two stages inside the power station

Lineup:

Mastané (CAN), Mei Semones (US/JPN), RONA., Acopia, NEW YORK (US), Way Dynamic, Kidskin, The Nikodimos Orchestra

It’s free entry, but you need a ticket, and spots are limited.

Feels like one of those “this will be insane in hindsight” kind of nights.

Mel Blue are on tomorrow at The Vanguard (May 7), their last hometown show before heading off to Europe ✈️ Supported by local Jazz act Dink and DJ Max Cherry.

Keen to see who else is heading along for this one. Who’s in?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently putting together my first live music event in Sydney this July at the Oxford Art Factory (Gallery Bar). The idea is to showcase three emerging acts on the brink, this first event is all within a similar alt/indie/rock/shoegaze space.

I’m looking for bands who would be keen to jump on the lineup, whether that’s headline or support.

If your act: Plays alt-rock, indie-rock, or shoegaze Is Sydney-based (or able to come and play in Sydney) Is available sometime in July

I’d love to hear from you.

The night will run as a ticket-split event, focused on building a strong crowd and a great atmosphere for both artists and punters.

Drop a comment, DM me, or link your music/socials if you’re interested.

Had a solid response from the first post, so doing another call-out. If you’re based in Sydney, regularly go to live shows and don’t always have people to go with, I’m putting together an Instagram group chat for exactly that. It’s just a space to:

Find people to hit shows, chat about upcoming shows, and build a bit of a live music community

I will also post and mention interesting things coming up. Anyone 18 and up can join. no bias on gender either.

Keeping it capped at 200 people max so it stays active and not spammy. If you’re keen, fill out the form (takes 5 minutes) and I’ll start adding people in: https://forms.gle/9BBccXkd2NBFbsbY6

As of now: 10 members

Hey everyone,

I’m 19 (male) and I go to a lot of live music shows in Sydney mostly solo. I genuinely love it , you can focus on the music, get there when you want, leave when you want but at the same time it would be great to have a someone to go with sometimes.

I have noticed there are probably heaps of people in the same position, especially younger people who are really into live music but don’t always have friends who are keen (or into the same artists).

So I’m thinking about starting some kind of community, whether that’s a subreddit, Discord, WhatsApp group, or something else, where people can:

1. Find others going to the same gigs 2. Meet new people with similar music taste. 3. Organise groups for shows or festivals. 4. Just chat about live music in general

The idea would be a friendly, safe space for both guys and girls to connect over gigs without it feeling awkward or sketchy.

Just wanted to put this out there and see:

1. Would anyone actually be interested in something like this? 2. What platform would work best? 3. Has anyone seen something like this done well before?

Keen to hear thoughts 🙂

Also: Fill out the form to be added to the community: https://forms.gle/9BBccXkd2NBFbsbY6

Comment below who you think will perform at this year's event?

Alot of rumours but is their anything really concrete. Post Malone rumoured to headline both Strummingbird and Harvest Rock this year? But who else could perform.

Drop your opinions down below.

These acts can be local or international; it doesn't matter.

Locally acts such as Karate Boogaloo, Ferrari Party, Public Figures and Barley Passable are some of my favourites.

Overseas, I love YHWH Nailgun, KEO, Hannah Cohen & Sam Evian and Midnight Generation.

Let me know your favs down below.
