Newbie

Guys I’m a newbie. My son is really interested in insects. He loves reading about them, watching them, looking for them when we’re outdoors. He’s just turned 9, but he’s shown an interest for the last couple of years. I thought it would pass, but it has not and he recently found a beautiful stick insect in our garden, and he stuck around for a few days, and then disappeared. He was a bit heartbroken. I think this made me realise this really is an interest of his and I want to support it more.

So, aside from books, what is the best way for me to support this interest? Any tips on good resources? ( we’ve already been to the Entomology section at the museum 4 times).

He also wants to get a stick insect and a tank. Is this a good idea? Is it cruel? What as a uniformed parent do I need to know? ( for context, I don’t want any spiders).

Guys I’m fairly new to the area and I have my folks visiting from interstate soon. I have a few places on my life to visit along the Bellarine but I’m looking for some particularly pretty cafes and restaurants that either have nice views, or are visually picturesque. A friend has already suggested The Dunes in Ocean Grove and Van Loons. Would love your thoughts and suggestions. TripAdvisor etc mainly just show the food itself.
