Withdrawal insomnia timeline

Hi all. I was on 15 mg mirtazapine for a few months for sleep maintenance insomnia (not depression). I chose it because I had had it for depression before and knew I tolerated it okay. Anyway I didn't like some of the side effects this time and tapered off over a period of about 40 days. I took my last dose which was something like 1-2 mg about five days ago.

Long story short, the past couple of nights I've been waking up at 3 am every morning and it's a coin flip whether I'll get any more sleep after that. I know I've probably just had the final washout and my histamine receptors are still upregulated and that's at least part of what's going on (with the other part being whatever stuff was giving me these early wakes in the first place).

I'm just wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation and can give a rough indication for how long this worse patch might last? And how long until my sleep is reflecting my actual baseline?

Cool moments that you didn't notice at first

The other day I was listening to Goodbye Elenore and I noticed a cool fast bass run that I hadn't picked up before. It's in the chorus where the lyrics says "just when I need mooooore" and it comes in in the middle of of "more".

Another one I didn't notice the first 100 times or so was the fast alternating guitar riff going into the chorus of Lovers in the Night.

Any cool little Toto moments that you maybe didn't notice until you'd heard a song many times?

I was listening to Orphan and I just noticed it. The song is in 6/8 (not the usual 1-2-3-4-2-3 pattern but more like 1-2-1-2-1-2) but over the top of it the guitar is doing four evenly spaced notes per bar.

Just thought I'd point it out because it's cool and I hadn't noticed that before.
